The Auburn men’s and women’s track and field teams

will host the War Eagle Invitational this Friday and Saturday at

Hutsell-Rosen Track, marking the Tigers’ second and final home meet of

the season. The meet is free and open to the public.

Most of the action takes place Saturday, with field events starting at

11:30 a.m. and running events beginning at 1:30 p.m. and running until

approximately 8 p.m.

On Friday, the javelin and hammer throws will be contested beginning at

4:30 p.m., and the women’s 10k and a men’s special invitational 5k

will be run starting at 7:30 p.m.

Auburn enters the meet with its men’s team ranked No. 10 nationally,

while the women are ranked 15th. The meet will also include fellow

Southeastern Conference members Mississippi State and the Alabama

women.

Other schools scheduled to compete include: Alabama-Huntsville, Alabama

State, Columbia, Columbus State, Emory, Georgia State, Georgia Southern,

Grand Valley State, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Mercer, Shorter,

South Alabama, Troy and the Tennessee State men.

“The weather should be ideal and it will be a great opportunity to

have some strong performances,” said head coach Ralph Spry. “We’ve

got two weekends to fine tune and get some last-minute adjustments made

before the conference championships, so I’m looking forward to a good

meet this weekend.”

The War Eagle Invitational is the first of just two more meets for

Auburn prior to the SEC Outdoor Championships. The squad will

participate in the Penn Relays next Thursday through Saturday, then will

take a break before the SEC Championships May 13-16 in Knoxville, Tenn.

“I feel pretty good about where we are right now,” said Spry.

“All of our key people have already run good enough times to

qualify for the NCAA preliminary round, so we’re trying to make sure

we stay healthy and we’re trying to peak at this time of year.”

Live results of the track meet will also be available at

I have never been to a collegiate Track Meet... I think it would be fun to check one out sometime.

That would be great as a former track athlete nothing pulls you to finish line like your fans cheering you on
