AUSportTalk 4
Auburn goes into its weekend series with Kentucky with an 8-7 Southeastern Conference record at the halfway point of conference play. Currently in a three-way tie for fifth with Vanderbilt and Ole Miss in the overall standings, Auburn (25-13 overall) will try to keep pace with the upper-half of the league this weekend as it tries to win its third conference series of the year. Auburn will employ starters So. LHP Cory Luckie (4-2, 6.68) on Friday night and Jr. LHP Grant Dayton (4-2, 4.89) on Sunday but has yet to decide on a Saturday starter. Kentucky similarly has named two starters, opting to go with Jr. LHP Logan Darnell (3-2, 4.77) on Friday and Fr. LHP Taylor Rogers (4-4, 4.92) on Saturday while not naming a Sunday starter at this point. Auburn remains the top offensive club in the league and one of the best in the country, brining the ninth-highest team batting average in the country into the week. It is also the top scoring team in the league and 16th in the country, scoring 8.9 runs per game entering the week prior to the 16-3 win over Troy on Tuesday night. Auburn is 18-5 at home this season and is a perfect 10-0 at home when the opponent starts a lefty. Kentucky is 22-15 overall and 5-10 in the SEC, in a three-way tie with Alabama and Mississippi State for eighth in the standings. Game times for the series are 6:30pm CT on Friday, 3pm on Saturday and 1pm on Sunday. Friday night is Friday Night Fever 70’s Night and fans are encouraged to wear their favorite 70’s attire for a chance to win Under Armour gear and enjoy music from the 70’s throughout the game. The first 500 fans through the gates will also receive a mini bat key chain from University Village and there is Friday Night Fireworks after the game, weather permitting. Sunday is Family Day and with an advanced purchase you can get four tickets, four hot dogs and four drinks for $30. The first 500 fans through the gates will receive team trading card set No. 3 from Longhorn Steakhouse and youth 12-and-under can run the bases postgame, sponsored by AllKids.
