James Kiger, former AU center has passed away early Friday from a car accident.

James Kiger, former Auburn center, dies in wreck

Former Auburn football center James Kiger was killed early Friday morning when the Ford pickup truck he was driving struck a guardrail and overturned near Ozark.

Dale County coroner Woodrow Hilbold pronounced Kiger dead at the scene.

Kiger, 40, was not wearing a seat belt when the crash happened around 1:15 a.m.

Terry Bowden, Kiger's coach at Auburn expressed his condolences.

"How very sad," Bowden said. "He was a good person. I've already lost so many players from my first (Auburn) team in 1993."

KIger, from Daleville, lettered at Auburn in 1995 and 1996. He was a teammate of current Auburn assistant Dameyune Craig.

It has been around 6 months now but many people still miss him. One of my friends who work with a Los Angeles DUI attorney and from Oz was telling me about him last Sunday and that’s why I searched him online. I think James was quite lucky to had so many loveable people who still miss him.
