  • Auburn's front-7 accounted for only 39% of the team's tackles, a season low. The front-7 has accounted for 54% on the season. The front-7 hit above 60% against LSU and Georgia and will need to against Alabama.

  • Since the Mississippi State game, Auburn has scored 58 points off of the opponent's turnovers, while surrendering only 6 points to the opponent.

  • During the 3 games prior to the Idaho game, Auburn was penalized a total of 11 times for 114-yards. During the Idaho game, Auburn was penalized a season high 11 times for 107-yards. The increase likely was the result of more personnel seeing action against Idaho.

  • During the first 7 games of the season Auburn averaged 4.7 yards per play on first down. During the last 4 games Auburn has averaged 7.2 yards. During the last 7 meetings against Alabama, Auburn averaged 5.7 yards per play on first down in 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2014 combined. During the 2008, 2011 and 2012 games, Auburn averaged only 2.7 yards per play on first down.

  • Against TAMU and Georgia, only 13% of Jeremy Johnson's pass attempts were beyond 10-yards of the LOS. Against Idaho, 37% was beyond 10-yards of the LOS.

  • During the last 4 games Jovon Robinson has 442-yds on 72 attempts (6.1) and Peyton Barber has 177-yards on 46 attempts (3.8). During Barber's first 4 games of the season, he averaged 5.1 yards per rush.

  • During his last 63 rush attempts, Jovon Robinson has been tackled for a loss only once.

  • During Jeremy Johnson's first 72 pass attempts, he threw 6 interceptions. He has thrown 1 during his last 61 attempts.

  • Despite having only 49 offensive touches on the season, Roc Thomas has produced 10 impact plays. He needs to be utilized in some capacity as a role player against Alabama. Find a way of getting the ball in his hands in open space 5-7 times like Onterio McCalebb.

  • During the 125 games of the Tommy Tuberville era, Auburn allowed 400-yards on defense in 16.8% of their games. During the 90 games since the Tuberville era, Auburn has surrendered over 400-yards 50% of the time and over 450-yards 33% of the time. Changing the defensive culture at Auburn will be a long process with more talent needed up front.

  • Auburn is currently averaging an impact-play in the passing game every 6.7 attempts, 21st among the last 25 Auburn pass-offenses. The set back with Jeremy Johnson early this season and the injuries to Sean White has hampered the aggressive calls down field.

  • After allowing only 6 combined impact plays to TAMU and UGA, the Auburn defense gave up 11 to Idaho alone. During the last 5 meetings against Alabama, the Tide has hit at least 2 deep balls against the Auburn defense per game. Auburn must force Alabama to work for every yard they gain.

  • A QB rating of 130 or better appears to be bench mark to achieve in the passing game. Since 1992, Auburn has won nearly 90% of their games when reaching a 130 pass-rating. The key is how consistent are they in achieving this mark? The 2015 pass-offense ranks 13th among the last 16 Auburn pass-offenses in achieving the 130-rating. When they have reached it this season, the Tigers are 5-0. The inability to reach it on a consistent basis is the primary reason why the offense has struggled and appeared predictable. So how does Auburn rank among the other SEC schools from 2009-2015? The Tigers are currently 5th, behind Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia and Arkansas.

The D was awful yesterday, but it was not necessary to even be average against Idaho. I am hoping for divine intervention on both sides of the ball against spuat. Our D is better coached, so I have more faith in the D versus the O.
