BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior catcher Carlee Wallace has been selected as the SEC Player of the Week, announced by the league office Tuesday. She is the second player from Auburn to receive the weekly award in 2017, joining senior infielder Haley Fagan.

Wallace paced the Tigers last weekend with a .538 batting average through seven hits, including three for extra bases, in three games played. She led Auburn to its first sweep of Georgia in Athens in program history.

The Alpine, Calif. native reached base in nine of 15 plate appearances and was a perfect 4-for-4 when leading off an inning over the three-game week.

Wallace successfully advanced runners at a .571 clip and touted a 1.000 slugging percentage. She nearly hit for the cycle in Auburn’s 13-4 win Saturday, smashing a home run, triple and single in the rout.

The junior has reached base safely in 18 of the last 20 contests, including 12 of the previous 13 games.

Since moving to the leadoff spot in the lineup, Wallace has been nothing short of brilliant. She boasts a .402 batting average with 33 hits, including 11 doubles, two triples and five home runs. Over that span, Wallace leads the team with a .768 slugging percentage and a .514 on-base clip.

Wallace and the Tigers travel to Samford for a non-conference clash Wednesday at 6 p.m. before returning home for a three-game series against Ole Miss, April 7-9.

I've been off the boards so far this season (too much work, not enough down time!) but I am super stoked Wallace is killing it! We've lost a few games this season but everything we're playing for is still on the table and Wallace has done an amazing job! PotW is well deserved!
