  1. Exactly, he doesn't like it, just like all the other coaches. I don't blame him. So what makes him uniquely fit for these times? Because he's a relationship guy? That sounds like the opposite of what works right now. Because he's a relentless recruiter? Maybe, but I bet there are other coaches who are also working hard at recruiting. Only difference we know is he was too busy recruiting to sufficiently coach. He shouldn't even think about saying that unless he was about to land the #1 recruiting class. Instead he ended up #6 in the SEC and #10 overall. Very good. But not as good as Gus' #6 overall in his first class. I only point this out because we all agree Gus was an inadequate recruiter. We do agree that his lack of options is a major benefit. Seriously.
  2. No one thinks it's easy, but every decent SEC head coach has done these things for decades. Including Saban, who was established in the OP as the polar opposite of someone who fits in these times. "Fitting into our family" and "blue collar culture" are nebulous phrases that crumble as soon as the HC loses too many games. I'm still not hearing what makes Freeze uniquely qualified for the NIL/transfer portal era.
  3. I'm not following the logic of why Freeze is a fit for the times. He dislikes NIL and the transfer portal, just like every other coach. He wants to build through high school and build a "family" culture. He claims he got into coaching to transform young men. I guess there's no threat of him leaving for the NFL or retiring. Is that what we are talking about?
  4. I think this kickoff rule change is more about saving a play that has become very boring. So I'm all for it. They also just outlawed the swivel hip drop tackle, which is definitely about player safety. I'm not sure this is a good move but we will see how it's enforced. Meanwhile, with all the player safety talk, we still have 15 stadiums with artificial turf.
  5. I honestly haven't read the last few pages, but here are my 2 cents on CBM. There was an article a couple days before the tournament praising him for being the "villian" of the team. Of course he embraced that role. How could you blame him? He has that attitude and style that has helped teams win games for decades. And helped us throughout the season. Yes, he hurt the team by getting ejected. It was a dumb move that I'm sure he'd take back. But when that's your role, it's a fine line. Yet some of the fanbase is turning on him and doesn't want him back. I don't understand that. It's like if the team's best shooter is cold in one game. Yes, it hurts the team but you don't throw him away. The team should have stepped up and won without him anyway. All we've heard about is depth. Then one guy goes down and we lose as 13.5 point favorites.
  6. Hope that's right. I fully expect Cam to be a superstar but I'm bearish on the Thorne side of that equation. White could be great one day but I think this season is too early. Nobody knows for sure.
  7. QB's look mediocre/bad, as everyone should expect. Don't be surprised to see a QB added in the late transfer window. Hopefully it's not too late.
  8. Good to see you, KT! I'm still all in on BP. Very appreciative of how he's lifted this program and I hope he's around for a while. But I sure as hell wouldn't agree to a succession plan for him or anyone else.
  9. Heartbreaking loss. The tournament is brutal. CBM should have known better. All the praise of him being the villian might have been too much for his head. We did win the SEC tournament and that's not nothing. I know no one wants to hear that now.
  10. Appreciate the specific responses, from you and others. I personally think we win 7 games in 2024 and 8 in 2025. That's just a prediction but I'd be interested to see the fan reaction at that point. To me, that's not good enough. But it's very close to good enough. I think it would likely depend on whether we beat UGA or Bama and if we dropped a game to someone like New Mexico State.
  11. Exactly right. We all know the SEC is the best conference, but that doesn't diminish what Deboer did. He just keeps winning every game in front of him. Anyone that disagrees can look up his HC record. The guy went 11-2 in his first season at Washington, a program not known for football excellency. Next season was 14-1, beating the #3 team in the playoffs (a team that beat Bama) and only losing in the championship game. All this could change next season but of course he's considered elite now. Deboer's #1 problem is that he won't be as good as Saban and the goofy Bama fanbase will come after him. And that will be funny to watch.
  12. Honest question for the "patience" crowd. Which certainly has some validity and I'm not trying to dismiss that. What do you need to see from Freeze, as far as record, in seasons 2 and seasons 3?
  13. Agree there is some recency bias here. Sark and Eli are too high. But Freeze's SEC record is 45-32 (58% win percentage). Not that exciting. His first recruiting class was #6 in the SEC which is a very good start. Also, you don't have to coach in the SEC to be a good coach. DeBoer was phenomenal at Washington. I don't like it but these are the facts.
  14. The team with the 6th best odds to win it all is a 4 seed. We got robbed, boys.
  15. I'm not one to typically whine about these things, but we got completely hosed. Glad we have a coach that knows how to use this.
  16. Apparently the game will be televised.
  17. Those are very reasonable theories. I wonder if the university gets paid by ESPN for airing these spring games.
  18. Agree. I seriously doubt ESPN chose to air Kennesaw State and GA Southern's spring game and reject Auburn's. Why Auburn chose this is another question. I have no idea.
  19. Ain’t no fun when the rabbit’s got the gun.
  20. 5-5 with this schedule. 7-5 with the actual schedule.
  21. Exactly right. Cam gives so much to the community. Not just his money, but his time. And he's one of the greatest QB's ever. But people like to take shots at him because he says what he feels (never anything too crazy) and wears funny hats.
  22. Forgot about this play. Cam was just different.
  23. Yeah I said a couple posts ago that I read that later. I should change the title. Thanks.
