In my opinion they will be going after an NFL coach. The "inside track" to the NFL is what saban established at bammer and is their whole approach to recruiting. In order to hold onto their current players and recruiting class they still need to promote that same mindset. The only way to do that is by hiring an NFL guy just like what they did when saban was hired. Hiring a current college coach makes no sense for the program that saban built. Even "paying" field now + the wild wild west transfer portal did saban in. He was having to re-recruit all the 5 stars currently on the team. I can see why that would be very frustrating at his age coming from the way bammer handled things in the past to what is happening now.

I don’t see how the current system is sustainable? At some point the market has got to level itself. there are over 2500 players in the portal!!

Ward/Salter at QB. My gut feeling is Ward because things are so quiet on both ends + the pitch to the WR recruits (RW) was "you will have a tier 1 QB throwing to you". The only way I see QJ coming to Auburn is if the price is right on Auburn's end. AU will not over pay + pitching to DA that he's the man for 2025 after JH and QJ leave for the NFL. It does seem things are falling into place now that QJ has entered the portal and Auburn did not renew NIL money for Battie. Good news is that JH and DA did not enter the portal!

Seems AU is desperate now that the bowl game didn’t go as planned. Glaring issues at QB with away games. It maybe in Wards best interest to come to Auburn to improve his draft status now with a talented group of WRs. Throw in Ryan Williams and it’s a slam dunk. Auburn needs Ward - Ward needs Auburn!
