I'm with you. I don't think Lane Kiffin is a great coach. He's the ultimate example of having an influential parent and failing up.

This is a very fair question, but I worry about this counter more for someone who isn't Sanders. He can easily say, "I've played in the NFL and was the best at my position when I played. I know what it takes to get there." I think the fact that UGA and Bama are NFL factories are going to make it really hard for anyone to come in here and win those battles early. If it's not Sanders, whoever we hire is going to have to prove it on the field first before that NFL recruiting counter can be made.

I know it would be a stop gap, but Will Friend should be fired tonight. He inherited a mess, but hasn't done a damn thing recruiting or coaching wise to fix it.

I'm not one for wanting to fire anyone mid season, but our recruiting is already in the tank and this game will make it worse. I would give him more time this year to see how it plays out. Lose to Mizzou though and you have to pull the trigger.

OL looks Baaaad, but I didn't have any delusions of going undefeated this year. Hopefully we can learn from this ass beating and beat Mizzou and LSU. This game may not be a complete waste of Ashford can emerge as a serviceable QB.

I would definitely go TJ as starter next week and run a similar game plan. If he throws more picks, then play Ashford more. Assuming they both have their ups and downs, I'd make Penn State prepare for both of them and keep a similar game plan to last night until someone separates themselves. To do this though, we need to see Robby throw a bit more.

Agreed, but doesn't make the perception any better. Regardless of what happened, it appears that Auburn didn't retain a charismatic, likeable, successful AD because he wasn't a good ole boy whose football coach hire didn't light the world on fire after only 1 season. Auburn continues to look dysfunctional and ridiculous. Make it stop 🤦‍♂️

Regardless of Goodman's reputation, he has a point. Auburn is a complete disaster. There is no named coach that would take this job if Harsin is fired after two seasons. We'd have to take a run at another unproven coach, but what's the point? Flame away.

I think it can work, but not sure the OL can open up run lanes consistently. You probably need a mobile QB to help open it up, which might be why a starting QB hasn't been named yet 🤷‍♂️?

Going to get flamed for this, but if the story from the OP has even a shred of truth (I doubt it), the Auburn brain trust needs to take a long look in the mirror. Auburn is way behind our peers in NIL $. CBH hasn't been put in a position to succeed. That doesn't mean he gets a free pass, but until Auburn is more in tune with the new college football landscape, doesn't matter who the coach is. Wash rinse repeat.

Short of drastic changes, seems like you could just make a rule that says you cannot negotiate (hard to monitor) or get any NIL money until you have been at your school for one full year or played X number of snaps. That won't solve all the problems, but it will at least slow some of the transfer bleeding some of the smaller schools are experiencing with their better players. What is happening now isn't sustainable with the NIL/transfer portal combo.

Agreed. There are outliers, but in today's NFL, RBs aren't drafted super high. By the time Tank is done, he will have proved that he is an NFL RB and won't need to carry 30+ times a game to do it. We just need to show we can run the ball with some proficiency and that should be enough to attract high level RB recruits.

Given all that has happened, it is probably best for both sides to part ways. However, there is no good to come from it. BOT and PTB would rather meddle and have influence over the football program than build a true contender. We can hire a new coach, which may have less drama, but it won't get us where we want to be. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Probably not getting a big name so we should come to terms with that. Harsin does need a huge win here so he will have to roll the dice with an up and comer and hope it works. Only way out of this mess for Harsin is to win.
