  1. I understand the desire to compare to other coaches that have had bad losses but all of those losses were by one score. We were blown out. NMSU only has two other wins by that margin. I could somewhat be okay with losing by 3 or even 7 but a 21-point loss is crazy.
  2. NMSU was not a good team. Below is their schedule and the records of the teams they have played before us. The teams they have beaten, not including us, have a combined record of (22-56). They have only beaten one team with a winning record before us. They have two losses to teams with losing records. Only UTEP and Middle Tennessee scored less than we did with 7 points each. Even winless Western Illinois scored 21 on them. Only three times this year, against FIU, Western Kentucky, and UMass, have they scored 30 points or more. This was not a great defense or a great offense we played. People want to bring up Saban's loss to La Monroe as comparable but it really isn't. If you want a more accurate equivalent, it is Chad Morris at Arkansas losing by 26 at home to (9-3) Western Kentucky. I don't think it can be overstated how bad of a loss this was. UMass (3-8) L Western Illinois (0-11) W Liberty (11-0) L New Mexico (4-7) W Hawaii (4-8) L FIU (4-7) W Sam Houston (2-9) W UTEP (3-8) W La Tech (3-9) W Western Kentucky (6-5) W
  3. Would have been one thing if we lost on a last-minute score but we got blown out at home by New Mexico State. I have seen some bad losses against SEC opponents like in 2012 but in my years as an Auburn fan, I can't remember one worse than this. We can talk about player effort but it was clear the defense and offense were not prepared for what this team does. For all of Freeze's coach speak about taking this team serious, I doubt they spent much time preparing for them.
  4. They have Jerry Jones and the Waltons as supporters. Not sure how they don't have more financial backing for football.
  5. 26 in regulation if you dismiss the defensive score and OT score but still much better than I thought they would do after firing Enos and promoting their WR coach to OC. At home, I would feel okay about it but not so much on the road.
  6. Not really. They have a good record but the teams they have beaten are awful. Every team they have beaten has a losing record and they lost to UMass in the first game of the season.

I listened to a bit of the post-game interview and Freeze said a few times that he was trying to run the ball to run the clock. I think he also said that we were probably too conservative at times. He never said why they decided to do that, maybe just trying to get the game over and avoid injuries. But yeah, it was not fun to watch.
  8. Leach's scoring offenses (ppg) in his first years were ranked 69th at Texas Tech, 108th at Washington State, and 110th at Mississippi State. In his second year, his scoring offenses were 17th, 52nd, and 60th. He struggled year 1 and made significant improvement in year 2. I think more than talent, just getting players to understand his offense better was what led to success. We are running a run-heavy offense right now which is what we did at the end of last year. We only had one game in that span which we passed for more than a hundred yards and that was Western Kentucky and we passed for 102 yards. The offense was not good at the end of last year. The other big difference at the end of last year was the schedule. We played a bad A&M and Western Kentucky at home, and MSU and bama on the road. You get no argument from me that we look absolutely awful on offense but I think a lot of people, myself included, did not realize how much Nix covered up our offensive deficiencies. I thought he was holding the offense back and it is obvious now he and Tank were the only part of the offense that worked. The offense went downhill once we lost Nix in 2021 and now that we have also lost Tank to the NFL we have few, if any, real playmakers on offense. We have talent at running back but there is not another position on offense that I would consider us to have above-average talent. The defensive side of the ball is by far our most talented and that is why we are running a clock management run-heavy type offense. I think that is the way Freeze has adapted the team to our strengths. He has focused the team on defense but that is hard to make work when you have a string of games against the best offenses and most talent-loaded teams in the conference.
  9. Not sure what the expectations were for this season but one of the best teams in Auburn history lost by 14 at LSU in 2013. That team had Heisman finalist Tre Mason, #2 draft pick Greg Robinson, NFL receiver Sammie Coates, and Nick Marshall at QB. We also had first-round draft pick Dee Ford on defense. We are terrible in Baton Rouge and have been for a really long time. Last night #10 USC with a Heisman QB lost by 28 to Notre Dame. #19 Washington State lost by 38 to Arizona. We need some realistic perspective because we have very few NFL players on this roster, let alone first-round draft picks like that 2013 team.
  10. For a bit of a positive outlook, we just played back-to-back the two best defensive teams on our schedule. Based on current defensive rankings, we will not meet another top 20 defense until we get to bama. Hopefully, we can get back to triple-digit passing games soon.
  11. I see that he will be out with a dislocated shoulder but I do not see anything that says he had surgery. Where is that coming from?
  12. He has managed to do in 17 games at Oregon what took him 34 games to do at Auburn. It really can't be overstated what kind of state this team was left in by both Malzahn and Harsin. We need a solid QB and receivers but none of that matters until the O-line gets fixed.
  13. Look at his stats. He had 50 sacks in 1057 pass attempts at Auburn. So 1 sack per every 21 pass attempts. He has had 6 sacks in 507 pass attempts at Oregon. So 1 sack for every 84 pass attempts. 4 times as many chances to pass the ball without being sacked makes a huge difference in how well you play. And that doesn't consider the number of hurries he had at Auburn.
  14. Sleep Apnea will raise your blood pressure which can damage your heart. I had a sleep study because my blood pressure was high and since I was relatively young, my doctor thought it was likely caused by sleep apnea. It ended up I do have sleep apnea so I have had a cpap for about ten years. I like my cpap because I use a full face mask that covers my nose and mouth and the cool air on my face helps me go to sleep quicker. Some nights I fall asleep while watching TV and it is a noticeable difference the next day with how tired I am from not wearing my mask that night. If you end up getting a cpap, as long as you can get used to it, it should make you feel a lot better.
  15. True, but none were worse than that Missouri game last year. The defense at least earned this one.
  16. Has there been any final statement on whether Hunter will be suspended for any games?
  17. No kidding. My Junior high coach back in the early 90s had the first few practices with no water. Then parents complained so he finally started having water breaks at practice but called all of us wusses because we needed water. That guy was awful. That was his first and last season coaching there.
  18. At 1:38 a.m., Miles texted Miller again, asking to bring him his joint, which the police investigator testified meant Miles’ gun. Miles also texted that someone “rl jus got da fakin.” Mary Turner, Miles’ attorney, explained in court that "fakin" meant threatening, citing Urban Dictionary. So that was the exchange between Miles and Miller but Miller never knew that Miles and Davis were going to use the gun for illegal activity according to his attorney. So Miller knew Miles' gun was in his car, so he was illegally in possession of it. He knew based on Miles' text that Miles wanted it because someone was threatening/acting aggressively towards them. But still, Miller had no idea what it would be used for?
  19. Well, 8 of those 12 wins came against the three worst teams in the conference. Granted, the South Carolina and LSU series wins were still big but we got South Carolina right as they started a 4-11 skid to end the regular season. It was a little smoke and mirrors propping us up to make us look better than we were. But still, the offense has been the strength of this team all year and that performance was pretty terrible.
  20. I have zero inside information and am just speculating but we just signed the quarterback that played with this guy for two years. Thorne may have stated specifically that he did not want Coleman coming here. I also found the following from a Twitter account for people connected to Michigan State. Interesting tidbit: I was told that Coleman made his decision over a week ago. However, those in the program feel that the sudden departure of QB Payton Thorne actually *increases* Coleman’s chances of returning to after testing waters. Make of that assessment what you will.
  21. Somebody first states that what she did was release revenge porn and she could get in trouble. Then she says that is what he gets for cheating and he F-ed around and found out. Then the other person states she could get in legal trouble. Then she says if that were true she would have been caught 2 weeks ago.
  22. After all that went on with their basketball team this year and then all these other people in their athletics department get fired for different things but Oates doesn't. Kind of amazing.
  23. Don't think I have ever seen a series with all 1 run games.
