  1. My comment was made on what I saw last year when Thorne was running for his life. I know we've made improvements since then but it is yet to be determined if it translates on the field.
  2. Yes he does....but how well will the OLine improve to give him time to find these weapons.
  3. Hell, I have trouble finding 2 nickles to rub together. I don't think they'll listen to me.😀
  4. Where is Tim Hudson when you need him?😀
  5. Per al.com today, they quote 4 folks at On3. 3 predict him to AU while the other predicts Penn State. No predictions for Miami (which means that's who he probably chooses)
  6. The competition coming from Tuscaloosa has opened his eyes also. If Bruce doesn't change his recruiting and roster management Oats will eat his lunch.
  7. A novel idea! Hope our coach reads this.
  8. And I'm sure he will if he stays at AU or wherever he may end up.
  9. He hit 3's consistently early this year. In fact folks who know basketball far better than me were quite impressed in his "natural shooting stroke". When SEC play began the defenses put increased pressure on him and he began to feel the pressure to score. The slump began which affected his mental state and he began to doubt himself. He is still a kid and had never been in this situation before his entire life. He may end up being a bust but I'm willing to take a wait ans see approach before I throw him under the bus.
  10. And, even though the commitment may not stick, it may influence other highly rated players to take a closer look at Auburn. They may think "if it's good enough for Alvin it may be good enough for me too".
  11. He was pressing too hard to score. And he was too hard on himself when he did miss shots. After a year in the weight room & more development he will be fine because he is a natural shooter.
  12. We're all good. I'm still in shock. The way we played the past 2 - 3 weeks I was so, so confident. Apparently our team may have been too.
  13. Sorry. I'll not post again until my post about the equestrian championship.
  14. Me too but we aim to please.😀
  15. I heard you yelling. Is the title ok now?
  16. No jinx. Just being positive. Just like in the movie Hoosiers when the coach says (when the game is on the line).."WHEN Ollie makes the 2nd free throw, and you will make both free throws, get back on defense and don't foul". I watched the replay of the Big East tournament between UCon and Marquette last night. We're damn capable of winning all our games. To me UCon was not that impressive. I like our chances.
  17. Does anyone know when we play again? Is it Saturday and if so, what time? Thanks.
  18. Well, so much for a lot of orange and blue in Nashville. Couldn't have happened to a better bunch. Oh, and bama crimson too to make it a trifecta. 😀
  19. I don't know if I could straighten them out, but I would tell them that athletics at big time schools is the biggest driver of the university. When athletics do good (mainly football) the school does good. Donations increase. Overall student enrollment, particularly out of state, grows by a large margin. Just looks at bama as example. When you hear the president of any university say that the hiring of a football coach is the best decision the school has EVER made, it tells you something. Most academic administrators would never admit such a thing. Anyway, it is what it is and Auburn will be fine regardless of the billionaires lack of donations to athletics.
  20. While I don't know them personally, I am familiar with 2 AU billionaires who donate very large sums of $$ to AU. But they donate to the schools of engineering and business where they earned their degrees. They apparently feel their $$ are better spent in this manner rather than athletics.
  21. Same here. But he can always say his last shot attempt as an Auburn Tiger was a made 3 pointer. (If my memory serves me correct).
  22. Better get used to it. The way Oats is recruiting they're going to be good year end and year out. It's a fun offense to play in and he is attracting elite shooters. He is running his team like the NBA does...a lot of offense and very little defense. Most kids like it.
  23. Agree. When (and maybe before) he retires Auburn will name (in some form or fashion) the basketball facility after him. Maybe the Pearl Palace at Neville Arena? He will get recognized for what he has done for AU basketball. Steven will be the next coach. Auburn will sign a deal with Nike. And we will get a basketball only practice facility. All of this is in the works as the powers that be at AU know what is needed and necessary for us to take the next steps in making AU a true powerhouse in basketball. Auburn has been too good to Bruce and his family for him to head to IU or anywhere else at this stage of his life. And of course Bruce has been great for AU too. Of all the coaches I have witnessed in my 65 years of following college sports Bruce Pearl is the most appreciative I have ever seen. He's got it good at AU and he knows it. I'm not the least bit worried.
