  1. No. She hates sports. Her uncle used to coach in college, the CFL, and the NFL. Did that for over 30 years. He was a drinking buddy and skirt chaser with Bear Bryant. (Cost him 2 marriages and quite a few $$$$). All her life that's all she heard...sports, sports, and more sports. Finally she just said no more. Wouldn't watch a game if her life depended on it. But I love her (I guess).πŸ˜€
  2. Some folks just can't be happy. Hell, I'm married to someone like that.πŸ˜€
  3. I'll just tell you what you want to hear.....No. But Caddy is staying.
  4. I hope yesterday's performance did change his mind. It wasn't all Thorne's fault but we need some stiff competition at the QB position.
  5. If we are to be a top tier football program there is no such thing as a throwaway game. Maybe we'll never be top tier again. Right now that's the way I'm leaning.
  6. My take on this game is this. Hugh was so damn glad to become bowl eligible he forgot to coach his coaches and his players for the New Mexico State and Maryland games. I guess he was too busy patting himself on the back for getting to 6 wins. The bama game was a fluke in that we caught bama on a bad week at our house. Hugh kept saying how glad he was to get the 15 extra practices for the bowl. I'd like to know what the hell we practiced because it was evident from the opening kickoff we weren't prepared for Maryland. We couldn't even recover a fumble when we had 4 tries at it. Our lines got whipped all day. Running backs had nowhere to go. Thorne looked totally lost all day. Missed tackles by everyone who had chances. Loxley of Maryland learned from Saban how to prepare for bowl games. They were ready, prepared, and wanted to be there to whip up on an SEC team. And they did. Bottom line is Auburn deserved better from Freeze. The 2 losses listed above are inexcusable, particularly in the manner they happened.
  7. Never bothered him when he was catching squirrels.πŸ˜€
  8. That Freeze inherited a sh*t show in most positions, especially WR. He also was grasping at straws in the 3 months he was here before trying to recruit the portal. He basically having to totally rebuild the entire Auburn football team. It's just me but I'm not going to bitch about anyone he brings in at this time. Maybe after year 2 it will be different for me, but right now I'm about as happy as I can be with what I'm seeing in the recruiting front.
  9. My take.......Freeze and Marcus Davis have a pretty good idea of what/who they want and need. Until they prove otherwise I'll not second guess them.
  10. There's not a damn bit of fizzle to this class. Hell of a lot of SIZZLE though. Look where we've come in the 15 months Freeze & staff have been here. It's REMARKABLE!
  11. Re the Auburn high kicker....Ole Miss has offered him a scholly. He still hasn't decided between them and us.
  12. It's a joke. The day a Duke player doesn't qualify at an SEC school (Vandy exception) there's something seriously wrong.
  13. Was he at the game? I couldn't watch due to an obligation.
  14. 100% agree. And now, some jackass politician in Alabama wants to start paying high school football players. Folks, the entire "amateur" sports world as we have known it is out of control, and it cannot be fixed.
  15. i disagree. Dye said, from the 1st moment he was hired at Auburn, when it was our home game, as soon as the contract with Birmingham expired, Auburn was going to play the game at Jordan Hare. And he had the full support of the trustees, mainly Bobby Lowder. Bo coming to AU didn't factor in the decision to play the game in our stadium.
  16. It was food and diapers. Eric came begging to Dye telling him he had no $$$ to support his family. The entire thing was orchestrated by Eric's wife Twilitta and Donald Watkins, a big time Birmingham attorney at the time. He worked independently but was also involved the Birmingham city affairs. Twilitta had already tried to get $$ from someone else by recording their conversations, which she also did with Auburn coaches. Many people, myself included, think the entire thing was done to get back at Dye for moving the Iron Bowl from Birmingham. Long story short, Auburn got hammered for trying to do good for a young family.
  17. Trooper, not Luper. Trooper and Foster were almost like father and son in their relationship.
  18. My biggest was Cornelius Bennett. On the Tuesday night before Wednesday signing day, he told his high school coach he was signing with Auburn and Pat Dye. Next morning at school he was seen getting out of a big Ford car that had 2 older white men in the car also. You know the rest of the story.
  19. Back in the 70's, 80's and 90's I felt the same as many on this board. "If you don't want to come to AU when you get the offer then screw you." But no more. This is a new day. Kids get so much adoration and attention not only from their classmates and teammates, but from the media as well. Imagine being an 18 year old star athlete and having the media, opposing fan bases, and the general public in your hometown and in most of the state waiting with deep anticipation wondering where the hell you're going to play football in college. It's really mind blowing and almost sickening, but IT IS WHAT IT IS!
  20. With a talent like Ryan Williams you do what you need to do to flip him. It may be a lost cause but you NEVER give up until he actually signs with bama. We're dealing with 17 and 18 year old kids who could change their mind at any time.
  21. Same for me when I visit Tuscaloosa. Nick & Miss Terry.
  22. USA Today may have been what others looked to, but here in this state we relied on the "unbiased" opinions of Forrest Davis.πŸ˜€ He was keeping tabs on recruiting when recruiting wasn't cool.
  23. No, but I did hear (through very reliable, informed sources) he was wearing a bama athletic supporter.πŸ˜€
  24. Agree. But they (like our receivers) don't even run the proper routes. If play calls for a 10 yard and out route, they run 7 or 8 yards or even 12.
  25. Craig was not retained because he did not develop the 4 and 5 star wide receivers he coached at A&M. A hell of a recruiter but does not get the most out of the talent he coaches.
