For the past few years all high school OLinemen were hearing is "you don't want to go to Auburn. They do not develop you and do not make you an NFL prospect". It doesn't matter who you are you as a coach, you do not overcome this in one year. The mindset of high school recruits will change when they see some progress on the field, which, thanks to Hugh's portal signings, they will see this year and the next. Better days are ahead.

My opinion only. NIL is only temporary. Within the next 5 - 6 years the players will be unionized, represented by a hot shot attorney like Marvin Miller was for Major League Baseball many years ago. They will then get a share on the BIG pie, including TV revenues as well as booster $$$. The business of college sports, mainly football, has gotten so huge the NIL $$ players are now getting is only a drop in the bucket.

Kiffin is not going anywhere. Ole Miss broke their bank getting him to stay and is not about to let him go. Lane HAD to win this recruit. The #1 player in Mississippi did not need to go out of state. Ole Miss simply had to have him whatever it cost.

Could not agree with you more! If (and I think he does) commit to Hugh Freeze, it will be final. I think K.J. has a ton of respect for Hugh and will not go back on his word.

Auburn coaches, players, recruits, administrative staff, support staff, AD and fans. We (collectively) have done all we can do on this one. Should he go elsewhere, those things happen. But I honestly feel he will be an Auburn tiger.

On B'ham radio today Greg McElroy said offer was in the $300,000 range, nowhere near $1.5 million. And did not say who the offer was from. Finebaum even said there is no way a school would offer Tulia anywhere close to this amount. His brother Tua maybe.

I'm quite sure they have, but it is NOT a high school coach's job to steer one of his players to a certain school. Sure he can give advice, but his #1 goal should be to help his athlete do what's best for his future. If said athlete can get life changing $$$$ (which some are doing) at 18 years old, the high school coach should just say congratulations and wish him good luck in the future.

Outbid. This is a new day in college sports. When a SEC baseball coach can pay $250,000 to a transfer portal pitcher, just imagine what a team like A&M can pay to a legit 5 stat difference maker in a skill position. It sucks for us but it is what it is.

But sometimes you have a kid whose father played at a particular school, kid grew up going to their games, and pictured himself one day wearing that particular uniform, much like many Auburn legacy kids have done. That seems to be the case in this instance. And I for one can't blame the kid if he makes this choice.

I know it is done by every school, but I just can't imagine being a 50 - 60 year old man and acting like this to impress an 18 year old. That being said if you're going to be successful at this level you do what you have to do.
