WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. will resign his post, the Justice Department said Thursday. Mr. Holder will remain in office until a successor is nominated and confirmed.

Mr. Holder, the 82nd attorney general and the first African-American to serve in that position, had previously said he planned to leave office by the end of this year.

Particularly in President Obama’s second term, Mr. Holder has been the most prominent liberal voice of the administration.

The Justice Department said Mr. Holder finalized his plans to leave in an hourlong conversation with Mr. Obama at the White House over Labor Day weekend.

We all owe a great deal of gratitude to the folks at judicial watch. Their tireless efforts to bring out in the open all the shenanigans of this administration have been invaluable. If the members of Congress had half the backbone these people do this would have all come to light long ago.

Its hard to defend. I mean he submits his resignation the day after the court rules that the DoJ is going to have to release the fast and Furious documents that Obama filed an executive order to protect them from public scrutiny. Eric Holder is a corrupt street rat who has been a WH operative since day one.

There is talk of him being nominated for the Supreme Court if Ginsburg steps down. If Democrats maintain a majority in the Senate, she will leave and give Obama the chance to put a younger liberal to replace her.
