More Don Henley

New York Minute- Don Henley

Harry got up

Dressed all in black

Went down to the station

And he never came back

They found his clothing

Scattered somewhere down the track

And he won't be down on Wall Street

in the morning

He had a home

The love of a girl

But men get lost sometimes

As years unfurl

One day he crossed some line

And he was too much in this world

But I guess it doesn't matter anymore

In a New York Minute

If you find someone to love in this world

you better hang on tooth and nail...

take a fool's advice

you better take care of your own

cause one day they are here

next day they're gone

Heart of the Matter- Don Henley

How can love survive in such a graceless age?

The trust and self-assurance that lead to happiness

They’re the very things - we kill I guess

Pride and competition

Cannot fill these empty arms

And the work I put between us

You know it doesn’t keep me warm

I’m learning to live without you now

But I miss you, baby

And the more I know, the less I understand

All the things I thought I’d figured out

I have to learn again

I’ve been trying to get down

To the heart of the matter

But everything changes

And my friends seem to scatter

But I think it’s about forgiveness

Forgiveness

You guys forgive me but I think I just realized just how much that "End of the Innocence" really affected me. I have had many a tear filled day that I have reflected back on these lyrics and realized that some of life's biggest accomplishments really can become wedges that ruin our lives.

There are people in your life who’ve come and gone

They let you down you know they hurt your pride

You better put it all behind you baby; life goes on

You keep carryin’ that anger; it’ll eat you up inside, baby

I’ve been trying to get down

To the heart of the matter

But my will gets weak

And my thought seem to scatter

But I think it’s about forgiveness

Forgiveness

Even if, even if you don’t love me anymore

And all I can do is keep on telling you

I want you

I need you

But -- there ain’t no way I’m ever gonna love you

Now don’t be sad

’cause two out of three ain’t bad

Now don’t be sad

’cause two out of three ain’t bad

,,,

,,,

She kept on telling me

I want you

I need you

But there ain’t no way I’m ever gonna love you

Now don’t be sad

’cause two out of three ain’t bad

AC/DC gives one of my fav's;

I am hot and when i'm not

i'm cold as ice, get outta my way

step aside or pay the price

what i want i take what i dont i break

i dont want you

with a flick of my knife i can change your life,

there's nothin you can do ,I'm a problem child

or squealer is a good one too.

One Particular Harbor - Jimmy Buffett

Ia ora te natura

E mea arofa teie ao nei

Ia ora te natura

E mea arofa teie ao nei

I know I don't get there often enough

But God knows I surely try

It's a magic kind of medicine

That no doctor could prescribe

I used to rule my world from a pay phone

Ships out on the sea

But now times are rough

Oh I got too much stuff

I can't explain the likes of me

But there's this one particular harbor

So far but yet so near

Where I see the days as they fade away

And they finally disappear

But then I think about the good times

Down in the Caribbean sunshine

In my younger days I was so bad

Laughin' about all the fun we've had

I seen enough to feel the world spin

Mixin' different oceans meetin' cousins

Listen to the drummers and the night sounds

Listen to the singers make the world go 'round

Ia ora te natura

E mea arofa teie ao nei

Ia ora te natura

E mea arofa teie ao nei

Lakes below the mountain

Flow into the sea

Like oils applied to canvas

Oh how they permeate through me

But there's this one particular harbor

Sheltered from the wind

Where the children play on the shore each day

And all are safe within

A most mysterious calling harbor

So far but yet so near

Where I see the day when my hair's full gray

And I finally disappear

Ia ora te natura

E mea arofa teie ao nei

Ia ora te natura

E mea arofa teie ao nei

Ia ora te natura

E mea arofa teie ao nei

Ia ora te natura

E mea arofa teie ao nei

Ia ora te natura

E mea arofa teie ao nei

Ia ora te natura

E mea arofa teie ao nei

Ia ora te natura

E mea arofa teie ao nei

(Ua pau te maitai no te fenua)

(Te zai noa ra te ora o te mitie)

(Ua pau te maitai no te fenua)

(Te zai noa ra te ora o te mitie)

Gracias, Tiger in Spain for One Particular Harbor...one of Jimmy's best...

Boy, James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, Meatloaf, Janis Joplin...I don't think I've ever felt younger. :poke:

Here's my contribution:

Particle Man, Particle Man

Doin' the things a particle can

What's he like, it's not important, Particle Man

Is he a dot or is he a speck?

When he's underwater, does he get wet?

Or does the water get him instead?

Nobody knows, Particle Man

He was not afraid to die, O brave Sir Robin!

He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways,

Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin!

He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp,

Or to have his eyes gouged out, and his elbows broken;

To have his kneecaps split, and his body burned away;

And his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Sir Robin!

So many lives I've touched

So much anger aimed

In no particular direction it just sprays and sprays

And straight through your radio waves it plays and plays

Until it stays stuck in your head for days and days....

.....If I was black

I wouldn't sold half

I didn't have to graduate from lincoln high school to know that

So f___ school man I'm to cool to go back

Give me a mike show me where the f___ing studios at....

......The problem is I speak to suburban kids

Who otherwise woulda never known these words exist

Who's moms probably woulda never gave two squirts of pi$$

Til I created so much mother####### turbulence

How I haven't posted these two lines yet I'm not sure , but better late than never.

You're the only one that you are screwing

When you put down what you don't understand
