If Dunn does have a chance of being our starting C, it would be nice for him to get some run with the 1st team at some point. I personally think that there's plenty of talent with the OL and there may be some over thinking going on.

This is what scares me about Tega. I know at some point you have to give guys a shot to prove if they're as good as you think. However, with having JS...i'm not sure if i want to found out with a new QB and Tega guarding his blind side. Even with Sean i'd be a bit concerned b/c as we know Sean is not that mobile and has injury issues. James would give me some comfort at LT but still a concern on passing downs. But def. lesser of an unknown compared to Tega. On paper that OL does look good. Seems to be a good battle going on between Horton and Bell for a Guard spot. There was a lot of back and forth between qbs. I was there, and I am almost positive that JS was in there for the Dean INT and I'm less sure about the 2nd...but I don't guess it matters that much in the first scrimmage. (People get too freaked out about these things.) and...the plays were vanilla and it seemed like we ran the same plays over and over getting a sense of check downs. i will admit that I was behind the team during the scrimmage at ground level so it's not that easy to know...and there were other things going on. So mea culpa if I'm wrong.

I'm not worried either way in first scrimmage, but the board blew up when everyone thought it was JS and the sky was falling for a few!!!! Even the articles were jumping on board about what JS 's interceptions meant for our future at qb!

Multiple people on various boards who claim to have been at the scrimmage say JS threw the pick 6 to Dean. So, at the very least, he threw one, and a very trusted poser here said JS threw two INTs. That is why I don't get the retractions that all of the major Auburn outlets ran with late yesterday. But like PTB said, it isn't really a big deal. INTs in a basic scrimmage aren't very telling, especially when there's no context around the INTs.
WFE12 9,191
Link Stidham reportedly struggled in the Tigers’ first scrimmage of the fall according to Josh Vitale of OANow.com. The former 4-star JUCO prospect took a couple of sacks while also tossing one interception (previous report said two INTs, but it has been confirmed that he threw just one INT) — which was returned for a touchdown by defensive back Jamel Dean. aubiefifty 16,791
montgomeryadvertiser.com Auburn practice #7 notes/observations: Major shakeups at OL Matthew Stevens, Montgomery Advertiser 3-4 minutes AUBURN – Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn has said some constant tinkering will occur with the offensive line units and that’s exactly what we saw Tuesday in the final 20-minute media viewing window of preseason camp. "Like I've been saying for a while, there comes a time that you've got to starting putting the piece of the puzzle and putting guys in specific positions. We're getting closer to that," Malzahn said Monday after the first scrimmage. "There was a lot of mixing and matching. We gave a lot of guys opportunities. The two fifth-year seniors, they got a lot of reps today. Our young guys got a lot of reps today. It was good from that standpoint." The Montgomery Advertiser was present for the final practice session open to the media until a bowl game and here are the observations/notes Players were just in helmets, shoulder pads and shorts Tuesday so it was similar to the first two open media viewing sessions in that regard. CLOSE Auburn receivers on the jugs machine in a preseason practice. Matthew Stevens The first-team offensive line made major personnel changes as Prince Tega Wanogho was getting pass protection reps at left tackle. The first-team was as follows from left to right: Prince Tega Wanogho, Mike Horton, Austin Golson, Braden Smith and Darius James. This puts the former defensive lineman from St. James School as a starter for the first time in preseason camp and allows drops Smith back in at right guard where he is a preseason All-America selection. The second-team offensive line was: Bailey Sharp, Marquel Harrell, Casey Dunn, Wilson Bell and Prince Michael Sammons. Freshman linebacker T.D. Moultry, who is expected to compete for playing time in his freshman season, was fully dressed today after missing a practice and a scrimmage session last week. The defensive line was still missing two members as sophomore defensive end Marlon Davidson and junior defensive tackle Andrew Williams were not active. Both players were noticeably limping as they watch their teammates go through drills. Ian Shannon and walk-on Aidan Marshall continued punting drills with the older Shannon having a wonderful day on his hang time, distance and speed at getting the punt off quickly. Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn went out to view the reps with a stop watch today to measure the time between snaps and kick. Daniel Carlson did attempt some punts after arriving late from field goal drills and was the second best of the trio. The first-team defensive line was: Jeff Holland, Dontavius Russell, Derrick Brown and Nick Coe; second-team defensive line was: Tyrone Truesdell, Byron Cowart, Martavious Bryant and Paul James III. Jarrett Stidham and Sean White were still trading first-team reps at quarterback. Selected Auburn players are scheduled to speak to the media around 6 p.m. CT tonight. Just for clarification purposes..... No one struggled. JS did throw a couple picks but it wasn't a big deal. I wouldn't worry about anything you hear from the 1st scrim. Really just getting players use to the reps of the plays. Very vanilla. All things would have changed had KP or even KJ been in the backfield. Neither were and the D tee'd off on the O. KP and KJ will not be tackled to the ground during fall practice BTW. I think most here know I'm not a SSPer, especially with Gus. But this offense is going to be damn good. Moving Prince in at tackle could be the missing element on the line. If he can do a serviceable job the first couple of games watch out. I'm told the kid has the tools just needs the reps.
