But he ran unopposed because the GOP failed to field a candidate against him and missed the deadline to get a third party candidate in place. So the party gets to deal with the optics of a literal Nazi representing the GOP in a Congressional race for the next 4 months. He'll get destroyed by Lipinski, but it's a bad look nonetheless. Dems have an anti-Semite House candidate in NY now.....so who is worried about her? Nobody it seems.... Refer back to the thread title. The fact they are running as Republicans is the point. So take your argument to PT.

There's a literal Nazi running for Congress in Illinois as a Republican. https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=nazi+congress+republican&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 He'll be running against Democrat Dan Lipinski this November. Just so everyone knows, in at least five state and national races a GOP candidate is running who is either a “Nazi, holocaust denier, white supremacist or all of the above.” https://www.vox.com/platform/amp/2018/7/9/17525860/nazis-russell-walker-arthur-jones-republicans-illinois-north-carolina-virginia
homersapien 11,379
I wonder if/when and how the GOP will resurrect itself from this, or will it continue to shrink. I also wonder if/when and how the Democrats will coalesce to take advantage of this opportunity.

As in she is no longer running. She withdrew because of something she wrote over a decade ago. It would be nice if people in your party would withdraw over racism too. I'd love to know when you last voted for a Democrat. Especially in something other than a non-statewide or national race. So something like US Senator, Governor, POTUS, AL Supreme Court, etc. Or even third party candidates in such races. When did you last cast a vote for neither a Republican nor a Democrat in a race like that?

For someone who claims to have no party, your criticism of either party runs about 99.9% one way. Your praise does also. Also, I'm not concerned about statewide races for inconsequential things like Ag Commissioner or State Treasurer where political parties honestly don't make a hill of beans difference. Cards on the table: Last time I voted for a Democrat outside of a purely local race was 2010 when I voted for Bobby Bright for US House of Representatives, AL District 2, over Republican Martha Roby. I also voted for him in 2008 over Republican Jay Love who had been my state legislator. When I lived in Tennessee, I voted twice for Democrat Phil Bredesen for governor and also voted for Harold Ford, Jr. over Bob Corker for US Senate. I have never cast a vote for a Democrat for POTUS. I've voted for several Democrats in mayoral races, state legislature positions, and such.

I voted for lots of dems including Jimmy Carter for POTUS and Ross Perot as a 3rd party POTUS candidate. My congressman in Huntsville for years was Dem. Bud Cramer. He was a friend and confidant. I supported him financially and campaigned for him. he used to call me in his office, shut the door and say "Ok cut thru the BS and tell me what is really going on in NASA and what should I support." I have voted for other Dems along the way but not many in recent years as they have become more and more liberal. I do vote mostly GOP these days but I don't just pull the top lever. But as I said, I am not a party guy and not active in party stuff. I vote for my best choice.
