Looks like Mullins may be ready to pitch a few innings this weekend if the weather allows. That's good news.

Monumental news. Desperately need a setup/closer to step up. Skipper was good Friday but not good Sunday. Same for Barnett. Honestly, it would be helpful for a guy like Mullins or Fitts to step up and throw 2-3 innings of shutdown ball. If you can throw the three starters you did last weekend, and get that out of the bullpen, you're going to win just about every series you play.

Like I have said before, Auburn has a VERY good team, but is being held back by the bullpen in a major way, and if that comes along, Auburn will win a lot of games.

Games lost by bullpen: BC game 3, UM game 1, UK game 1, UK game 2, ARK game 2, ARK game 3.

If the bullpen does its job in those games. That's 6 more wins (and 6 less losses), meaning AU is 18-7 overall right now. It's also 5 more SEC wins (and 5 less SEC losses). That would be a 6-3 SEC team, with series wins over UK and @ Arkansas. That's a much different team, and likely one that is ranked and looking to host a regional.

Mind you, these are just games where the bullpen failed to hold the lead, or preventing a tie from becoming a lead for the opposition. If we want to include games that Auburn would have been in, but were not given the chance due to the bullpen, that number goes up to 7 more wins (Little Rock game 3 and Baylor). That would translate to 20-5, 6-3 SEC. That team is definitely ranked, with a high RPI, and a prime chance to host a super even.

Granted, some of these games would have been longshots anyways, but the bullpen has to keep Auburn in games. That's 8 games that the bullpen has played Auburn out of now (and they almost lost the Lipscomb game if one ball didn't go about 4 feet to the left).

IF the bullpen calms down, this is a fantastic team and will make a regional. Hosting probably out of the question save for an unprecedented run of sweeps and big series wins (win every series and sweep a few as well), but the sins of the first half of the season can still be repented for. It just has to start this weekend.

Yeah, it sounds like he's going to be available Sunday. And if this weather doesn't break soon, we're going to need him. Compressing a weekend down to two days with the minimal numbers of arms available makes things extra tough on us. You likely can't bring back Barnett or Skipper if they throw on Saturday.

I'm hoping we play the game tonight, even if we have to delay the start. But we got a half inch of rain before lunch and it's steadily rained all afternoon. Just don't know if the OF will be dry enough to play.

Not sure the field condition will be the issue as the grounds crew does an excellent job and can get it ready to go. Would be more concerned about rain picking back up, although looks like it's going to hold out until midnight. Let's play some ball.

Thanks ground crew and that field has a great under drainage system

Bliss breaks the hitting column open for AU with a 2 out single.

Ward quickly swings thru the first pitch in the dirt. Love the aggression but come on dude need you on.

Williams with a single but a pop out by Howell and AU’s done in the 4th. Tigers take the lead on two solo shots by two power hitters that really needed to hit some and get going again. Hope that gets Woley and Ware hitting for some power again.

Take it.  Can not complain about seeing some great Friday night baseball lately

Has been a trend all year: every single time Auburn does something good, they are one upped. When they score, the other team scores 2. When they strand two runners with 1 out, the opponent strands the bases loaded with no outs.

Not sure if this is a confidence thing or just a lack of success or what. Frustrating as heck for fans. I’m sure players are frustrated even more. Gotta take it at some point.
