Softball vs South Carolina 2022

Auburn vs South Carolina scheduled Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 1, 5, and 6 PM with TV Sec network+ then last two games SEC network.  Currently weather outlook a go.  Auburn has lost 4 of 6 last games we have played SC.  Our last home series in 2019 we lost 2 of 3.  The other games were neutral site games.  the Gamecocks have a record of 16 - 8 and a conference record of 1 - 2 having just lost to Georgia (played in Columbia, SC) this past weekend.  The loss scores were 7-8 and 12-3 (5).  Their win was 7-3.  Their primary pitcher appears to be Bailey Betenbaugh.  She pitched 4 innings vs GA in the 1st game loss throwing 91 pitches and 7 innings in the 3rd game win throwing 136 pitches, 5 H 2 SO.  The next two pitchers Powell and Ochs have pitched a combined 3.7 innings in conference surrendering 10 hits and 9 runs.  On offence, 6 batters above 300 with range of .300  up to .500(Gallagher).  There big bat is Katie Prebble with 2 HR in conference and 10 for the season.  Their starters consist of 2 freshmen, 4 soph, 1 Jr, 1 senior 1 grad.

Looking at SEC stats noticed Blaine in conference play has 4 hits and 3 walks.  Looks like a good week end of work to me.  

Also interesting that Georgia Tech defeated Georgia 12 - 3 (5) yesterday with an 8 run 2nd inning.

South Carolina will play College of Charleston on Thursday on SEC network+ so may be a chance to "scout" if interested.  The game was initially scheduled for today but moved due to weather.

Missed a bit of this game because of work. But it's tied 3-3 in the Bottom of the 5th.

Brie Ellis hit a 2-run homer in the 4th. And Godwin followed up with a solo shot on back-to-back homers.

Auburn started with Penta on the mound, then went to Lowe, and brought in Dismukes in the 5th.

2 singles to lead off the inning for South Carolina. They've been hitting the ball at the right spots the last 2 innings. Nothing really hard just right where our ladies aren't.

Lineout to 2B for out 1. Another weakly hit single. Bases loaded with 1 out.

Fly out to CF but that allows a run to come across and we're tied again.

Ground out to get out of that bases loaded jam with only 1 run.

Ellis, Godwin, Bryant up.

Ellis strikes out swinging. She just missed a home run foul down the LF line. Godwin flies out to CF.

Bryant also strikes out swinging. We've struck out 9 times this game.

Another hit, this time a double. South Carolina is hitting everything our pitchers are throwing.

Error on 2B and another run scores. A lot of issues in the field today.

Another hit and another run. Umps are reviewing the throw. She was called out trying to move to 3rd, run scored before though.

Pop up to Penta for out 1.

Single to get another runner on a 1-2 count. Passed ball and the runner moves up. Ground out but the runner moves to 3rd.

These hitters are just getting contact on the ball on every at bat. Can't remember the last time we've had a strikeout.

Just needed to say something about the strikeouts as Penta gets a strikeout to end the threat!

Edit: Call overturned. Announcers are stupid as s***. Kept trying to say it was hard to see but it was pretty obvious. Runners on 1st and 2nd. Up to Packer to extend it or win it!

That's gonna be almost impossible to overturn. Way too much dirt obscuring the foot and ball.

Another single for South Carolina. I hope our pitchers have better stuff tomorrow and the rest of the series.

Fielder's choice, runner out at 2nd. Bryant with the low throw and couldn't complete the double play. Bryant gets taken out at 2nd, cleat right on the shin. Should be interference.
