Yascha Mounk on PBS "Firing Line"

Firing Line has been a great source for presenting balanced commentary on politics since William F. Buckley was host. (Marget Hoover is a worthy successor to Buckley IMO.)

The following is a good discussion of our current political reality.

23:00 The growth of young males identifying in multiple racial and ethnic groups, now at 10%, are leaning toward the Republican Party beause they view the Democrat Party as too radical for their support. Translation: Accepting the ideology of the woke Left is running voters away from the Dems.

Conversely, the Republicans on several fronts are also turning voters off for their crazy over-reach on Abortion, and other issues.

Which of both of these parties moves to the center first, and rejects part of their base, could likely take full control of DC, at least for the next few election cycles.

Ive often felt mlk’s vision of seeing ourselves as Americans first and racial identification  (implying gender as well) a distant second has been crushed by the far left and right. His mission was to blur up and discard race as a mindset - instead our society obsesses on it. We’re not at all where I thought we would be 30 years ago.
