CarolinaTiger 0
Link Governor Says La. Had 'Well Thought-Out' Plan For StormLouisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco is defending her state's preparations in the days leading up to Hurricane Katrina. Blanco said Louisiana had a "well thought-out exit plan" in the days leading up to the storm. She spoke during a visit to Houston's Reliant Center, where more than 2,000 evacuees are staying after fleeing the devastation in New Orleans. Blanco thanked Texas for its hospitality. It's estimated that about 240,000 Louisiana residents fled to the state. In response to criticism that Louisiana officials were slow to alert residents of the pending disaster, Blanco insisted state officials had an evacuation and rescue effort that prevented thousands more deaths. The governor said destroyed areas will be rebuilt, but cautioned it could take a long time before some residents can return.
