SEC Player of the Year

Kenny Irons, RB Auburn

Who needs Cadillac and Ronnie? Irons took over the Tiger running game in the third game of the year and ran for 100 yards or more in eight of the final nine games highlighted by a 218-yard day against LSU. He finished the season with 1,205 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Shockley was great against Auburn and LSU (and, OK, Boise St.), and the UF loss showed how valuable he was to his team. At other times, though, he was pretty ordinary (Carolina, GTech, etc.).

Cutler was the best player at Vanderbilt in quite a while, almost single-handedly elevating them from doormat to competive; he was the clear sentimental choice.

But Kenny's power and energy were the engine for the SEC's best offense. It's no surprise that he got better, so did the offense (and the team, for that matter). Way to go, Kenny!!

War Eagle!!
