Isn't Shula something like 20-17 at UA as a coach? That ain't numbers to be bragging about and comparing to any other coach, especially somebody that is the head coach of Miss. State. Nobody jumped on it because it was Miss. State for crying out loud!

oh yea, for sure. I think Shula was the right choice over Croom.

I love all the deep thought and insight you bring to the board.

Whats your problem man, all I did was agree with the guy. What else can I say about Croom and his lack of suspentions and such?

Dude, stop it. The subtle complexity of your posts is overwhelming. You say so much when you say so little.

  • 3 weeks later...
Croom has been a huge disappointment for MSU

His players are incredibly bad even when I don't think they were as bad as they played (lose to Maine.....MAINE????).

His offense has been maybe the worst run offense I have ever seen at the D1 Level.

He has brought nothing to MSU recruiting wise....NOTHING

There is zero energy at MSU these days

State's offensive squad was middle of the pack in the SEC, but they had the 3rd highest rusher in the conference.

Once again, any hint of serious football knowledge from a Doggie fan is dismissed.

Points scored against SEC Teams

Auburn - 0

Georgia - 10

LSU - 7

Florida - 9

Alabama - 0

Arkansas - 10

Ole Miss - 35

Everything I said was completely correct. :cheer:

Their O against good competition was miserable and MSU has had almost ZERO effect on the recruiting trail with Croom.

They had 1 good game against a 3-win OM team.

Ouch, that has to hurt :big:

Croom lost to Maine While I'd like for him to have lots of success, a good coach walking into a bad situation can usualyl pull off the big victory against the terrible opponents....look at spurrier, look at tubbervile's ole miss teams ...spurrier won't lose to Maine or any other super crap team...Although Tubberville almost lost to app state in that first game his first year, he seemed to have the pieces in palce to pull out a victory...maybe croom just got unlucky, but if he has another year of no improvement then croom might be past the point of no return. being in the same conference as auburn, lsu, arkansas, bama and ole miss is tough though...they don't get to play mississipp state for a breather.

state beat ole miss last year (bad) and they'll beat them this year. ole miss is the worst team in the west, and as long as the ogre is trolling the sidelines, they'll remain that way... miami coaches or no.

croom had a horrible loss to maine. no doubt. no excuse. but he also beat florida. in the same season. what's it mean? nothing really. they were a bad ball team that was completely inconsistent. the goal for msu has to be to play better at home. if they can do that, they'll really take a step up b/c they also play a few winnable road games.

look at the schedule: they get south carolina in the season opener on a thursday night on national tv... stranger things have happened. they get a beat down the next week, but you follow the auburn game with tulane. avoid a let down and you win that game. on the road to uab is no cake walk, but it's not a bear either. beat down against lsu. beat down against wvu barring a miracle. then another potential win against jack state at home. beat down, potential win against kentucky again at home. loss on the road against the tide. then you close the year with a winnable game against arkansas at home, and a game i'd beat the farm on at ole miss.

all in all, if they can maintain focus and just show up every single week (which would admittedly be a new thing), they should win five games (tulane, uab, jacksonville state, kentucky, and ole miss) with potential wins against south carolina and arkansas in there to make it a special year. i'm not saying they're going bowling. i'm just saying they don't have to be substantially better to win five, just more consistent.
