When Auburn (1-0) rolls into Starkville Saturday morning, the Tigers will have a different look on both offense and defense than the team that dismantled Washington State 40-14 last week.

Tuberville expects to see AU throw the ball more against MSU.

Auburn came into the WSU game with a conservative gameplan on offense and that plan got even more grounded as the game went on. All total, the Tigers rushed 44 times for 293 yards while attempting just 19 passes.

"We were very vanilla on offense," said Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville. "We had a little bit more in the gameplan than what we ran during the game.

"Sometimes you get a little hard-headed but that was our point going into this game. We were going to force our guys to play hard-nosed that we didn't play last year sometimes."

While Auburn will still run the ball against Mississippi State, they're planning to open up the passing game. They'll have to in order to move the ball against a stout MSU front seven that gave up just 81 rushing yards in their opener against South Carolina.

"We've got to open it up a little more, diversify," said Tuberville. "You can't count on running as many as we did when you get in our league. We've got to take advantage of some other guys on the field."

On defense, Auburn played mostly nickel and dime packages against WSU, rarely having all three starting linebackers in the game at one time.

"We're going to have to get back to basics now because we're getting ready to play a team that's going to run the ball a lot more than what we saw last weekend," said Tuberville.
