Virginia Tech's 'Clean-Up' Is A Friggin' Joke

Nothwithstanding his proclamation that the program would be cleaned up, Virginia Tech Coach Frank Beamer is back to his warden-like ways in Blacksburg.

Over the weekend, players Josh Morgan and Chris Ellis were arrested early Sunday morning in a downtown stretch of bars and restaurants. Morgan, police records said, had punched the driver's side window of a passing truck, tried to assault the driver, then resisted arrest and was finally subdued with pepper spray.

Ellis, according to records, was arrested for obstructing an officer after inciting a gathered crowd against the police.

Beamer broke his silence on the situation Tuesday, defending his players.

"This thing the other night, it happened quickly," Beamer said. "I think Josh was almost hit by a car. That's never been said. I think after that, he reacted wrong. And I think Chris was trying to come to his defense, and he reacted wrong."

Beamer called them "two really good football players and competitive guys and good kids. They're not bad people."
