Barfield ......... 0-6-0 (.000)

Dye ............. 6-18-2 (.269)

Bowden ........ 3-7-0 (.300)

Tuberville ..... 7-11-0 (.389)

Record against opponents that finished ranked in the top 20:

Jordan ............ 20-42-1 (.325)

Tuberville started off at 5-16-0 against opponents that finished ranked in the top 20 and has gone 10-3-0 since that point.

Man, Barfield. Not good.

Shug's record is tainted by Alabama's success. I'd be curious to know how many of his losses to top ten teams came to those underhanded turd wranglers.

Good lord, I'm not sure how you older folks were able to put up with that crap, not to mention the Barfield years.

What is hard to guage, is the times AU would beat these teams and then they would fall out of the top ten to finish the season. Beating a team and that team remaining in the top ten (especially those teams near the end of the season) is sometimes a hard thing to accomplish.

Stat,

Not to take anything away from Tuberville, but how does this correlate to Tubby's OCs and DCs

Dont forget guys, for years we played Georgia, Florida and Alabama back to back to back. This is the infamous "Amen Corner" that Dye named. Not many teams would have fared well with that run.

I’m not trying to discredit the toughness of “amen corner” but they weren’t back to back to back. There was always a non conference game sandwiched in between Florida and Georgia. Most of the time it was a fairly easy win, however that wasn’t the case in 1983 and 1987.

“Amen Corner 1983”

Auburn vs. Florida (#5) W

Auburn vs. Maryland (#7) W

Auburn @ Georgia (#4) W

Auburn vs. Alabama B’ham (#19) W

“Amen Corner 1987”

Auburn vs. Florida (#10) W

Auburn vs. Florida State (#4) L

Auburn @ Georgia (#8) W

Auburn vs. Alabama B’ham (#18) W
