Where being someones sister

is just like a porno.

Counting isn't your strong suit is it?

true, i did **** that one up in the traditional sense. but, as a rule of haiku's the syllable rule can be used to dictate pronunciation. so porno can be said as one syllable. that is more or less what i was using it as.

Yeah, you should have left the 'o' off of 'porno' and you would have been golden.

Exhibit B:

Ti-ger fans don't wo-rry (6)

Beer will help you for-get it (7)

but your ass will not (5)

another example of pronunciation dictation. with most of your slow southern draws it would be split up, but if you were to read it at a single syllable it really isn't that big of a change. using haiku to dictate tempo is done many a time.

I would like for you to explain to me how in the hell the word 'worry' is one syllable. Let's see what the dictionary has to say:

wor·ry Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[wur-ee, wuhr-ee] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation verb, -ried, -ry·ing, noun, plural -ries.

I guess the dictionary was written by some slow southerner.

Hell, since we're just making up rules as we go along, here's another gem for ya.....

seriously, when i say worry, i don't say it in two syllables. it may be a kansas thing.

its a fairly simple grammatical tool to dictate the pace of a read. the post above would be an elaboration on the strict rules of a haiku. it is surely not the traditional intention or use of the structure of haiku (where the absolute syllables must meet specific requirements), but it is a play on the abrasiveness of structure (where the syllables become more liquid and change to fit into its container). but i guess alabama is all about tradition, like slavery.

And Kansas is all about wincrimsoning in your yard, living in your car with a tarp over it and godhatesfags.com.

this just in, god hates everyone.

ok, who went and made up the new user accounts? ;)

You can't make this up. This is genuine Kansas Bovine Grain Byproduct, courtesy of Phelps State Community College in Manhattan.

So let me get this straight.

The Webster's dictionary, as well as any other source you can find would describe "worry" and "porno" as having two syllables. We pronounce it as such. As does everyone but apparently Kansas. And we're "backwards" and "slow"? Riiiight...

Seriously, I would like a sound clip of ANYONE pronouncing either of these words with one syllable (yourself included, feel free to upload it somewhere and post).

Methinks someone doesn't quite understand exactly what a syllable is.

Haiku is SOOO 1990's. Here's one for you, Codpiece:

Soon the fall’s cruel hands will deface,

In past memories only will you be thrilled:

Make quick some talk; treasure your happy place,

With memory, for it will be Tiger-killed:

Thankfully, your hope is not forbidden fantasy,

Which makes happiest those that play the willing fool;

And dream aloud of watching a victory,

Yet on the Plains be shown a brainless tool,

A spanking of a fashion, yet imagined, delivered as art,

Endless throngs of blue on green, and violent speed to make you wince,

Then what but drink could save you before you depart,

Leaving you and your coach agape and befuddled, poor Prince!

Be not self-aggrandizing for you are much too unaware,

That soon our boys’ conquest will make worms your heir.

thank you for some retaliation in something a little bit harder than a haiku. if you had only spent a little more time and made each line 10 syllables you could have had a sonnet. which is what i did a few pages ago. until someone matches this then there is no doubt who the victor in this flame war is.
