I'm not sure why they're calling Alabama for Huckabee yet. Right now actual poll results simply aren't jibing with exit polls. Anybody know which districts haven't reported yet?

They will in an hour or so. It won't be the beatdown that was projected in the exit polls, but I expect Huckabee to win. Romney definitely got kicked in the teeth here.

P.S. Any reason why north Tuscaloosa doesn't receive MSNBC? Comcast is such a freaking joke.

Counties in AL with very low totals counted so far:

Butler

Chambers

Clarke

Coffee

Coosa

Covington

Dale

Dallas

Fayette

Geneva

Greene

Hale

Houston

Lamar

Lowndes

Macon

Montgomery

Perry

Pickens

Pike

Russell

Shelby

Sumter

Tuscaloosa

Wilcox

All are at 8% or less reporting and all except Tuscaloosa and Montgomery are rural or suburbs.

By contrast, Mobile has 88% reporting and Jefferson has 65%. McCain took Mobile but is losing Jefferson.

The thinking is probably that Huckabee is stronger outside the urban areas and that McCain hasn't gotten the margins in those areas to offset the rural and suburban AL vote.

Huckabee continues to lead in GA with 71%. Leading by 21,000 votes. Also leads in Missouri with 35% reporting, but only by 9,000 votes there.

Obama takes North Dakota.

WinCrimson, you can probably stream MSNBC over the internet live.

CNN appears to be slower than the other networks in calling races tonight.

That's because they've badly burned by exit polls in the past.

Good night for McCain, okay night for Huckabee, bad night for Romney. McCain wins the convention unless a miracle happens.

The question is, if Romney starts leaking support, where does it go?

Not to Huckabee. Too much bad blood. Romney will cut a deal with McCain.

You think McCain and Romney don't have bad blood? Besides, the question is what will his voters do, not what Romney would like them to do.

Obama wins Kansas.

If they're his delegates, chances are they'll follow his instructions. Romney as Vice President is a lot better than Huckabee getting creamed in the general election.

I have to admit a grudging respect for Bill Richardson, who was just interview on MSNBC. A shame that he's out of the running, because he was probably the most qualified candidate this year.

I think you'll be shocked at how many Huckabee voters will not be enthused to rush to the polls for a McCain-Romney ticket. Unless they are running against Hillary.

I think you'll be shocked how many show up against Hillary or Obama. Hillary, naturally, is the AntiChrist. But, come the general election, nobody wants a Keynsian in the White House. Obama is likeable but, in the end, people are really going to vote their pocketbooks.
