The Dem’s true Colors

so·cial·ism (sō’shə-lĭz’əm)

n.

Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.

House Democrats responded to President’s Bush’s call for Congress to lift the moratorium on offshore drilling. This was at an on-camera press conference fed back live. Among other things, the Democrats called for the government to own refineries so it could better control the flow of the oil supply.... Here are the highlights from briefing

Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY), member of the House Appropriations Committee and one of the most-ardent opponents of off-shore drilling.

The dims standard response: "You cannot drill your way out of this."

All else being equal, if you increase supply, prices go down. Granted, not immediately since it would take time (years) to drill and develop additional refinery capacity and so on, but eventually.

Long term, there’s a lot of oil out there in places that the Democrats don’t want us to drill: ANWR, the oil shale deposits in Utah, Colorado and Wyoming, off shore deposits. We could develop those domestic sources while making progress towards shifting towards a less oil dependent economy, but the Democrats would rather leave us hostage to foreign oil suppliers.

Then they say, ",,,you should not do it because we would eventually run out of oil anyway."

It is called mitigating damages. Get as much oil as possible, work on all available alternatives. Promote conservation.

What do they want? What do they intend to do?

Democrats call for the Nationalization of oil companies!

The reason we're suffering the energy crisis today is directly attributable to government and its lack of a coherent energy policy and its unwillingness, among other things, to allow the exploitation of our oil reserves.

Dems want to nationalize oil

See where that's going?

Plain and simple the dems ultimate plan is un-American.

Here is the news on the dems idiotic proposal!

Among other things, the Democrats called for the government to own refineries so it could better control the flow of the oil supply.

They also reasserted that the reason the Appropriations Committee markup (where the vote on the amendment to lift the ban) was canceled so they could focus on preparing the supplemental Iraq spending bill for tomorrow. (Their BS way of saying they have national security to think of.)

At an off-camera briefing, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said the same. And a senior Republican House Appropriations Committee aide adds that “there were multiple reasons for the postponement” including discussion on the supplemental. But the aide said there was the thought that Democrats may wish to avoid a debate today on energy amendments.
