Boonan 0
Anyone know why AU and the SEC don't do men's soccer?
TitanTiger 20,499
Probably because adding another men's sport would throw off the numbers for Title IX.
autiger4life 3
Yeah, they have decided that men's soccer is one of the sports that we will lose in order to fulfill title IX

BigSammyK 171
It absolutely has. The whole purpose of it was to get more women's sports in college. Now all its doing is keeping men from having a few sports. I played on the "club" soccer team at AU for two years. We competed against everyone else in the SEC and some other schools in the south east. We were actually quite competitive but the fact that there wasn't much money (hardly any) in the program made it tough. Almost every expense comes out of the players' pockets. The only SEC team that has a Varsity soccer team is Vandy due to the smaller size of their football team.
