Coach Gene Chizik will sign -- sign -- his first Auburn football player today.

Defensive lineman Nick Fairley, who originally signed with the Tigers out of high school, will sign today as a junior college transfer and enroll in January, according to AuburnSports.com. Fairley said other schools tried to get him to change his mind during Auburn's coaching change, but he held firm.

The 6-foot-4, 295-pounder will be eligible to participate in spring practice. He's enrolling as a sophomore. Fairley was one of Auburn's top recruits when he signed in 2007 out of Williamson High School in Mobile.

Another top player -- tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen -- will get a visit from Chizik on Saturday, according to Inside the Auburn Tigers. Lutzenkirchen, considered one of the top tight ends in the country, said he's still committed to Auburn.
