Sheniqua Ferguson Named SEC Co-Runner Of The Week

Auburn junior sprinter Sheniqua Ferguson has been

named the Southeastern Conference’s Female Co-Runner of the Week for

her performance at the Kentucky Invitational, the league office

announced Tuesday.

Ferguson, a transfer from Southwest Mississippi JC competing in her

first meet for Auburn, won the 60-meter dash, blazing to a time of 7.28

seconds in the finals. Her time is tied for the national lead at that

distance this year, and ranks tied for fifth best in school history.

Ferguson was the 100-meter and 200-meter champion at the 2009 NJCAA

Outdoor Championships before competing at the 2009 World Championships,

where she advanced to the semifinals in the 200 meters and the

quarterfinals in the 100 meters.

The Auburn men’s and women’s track and field teams will be off

during the upcoming weekend before competing at the Clemson Games Jan.
