Check out Auburn beat writer Andy Bitter's column from a few days back. Link: http://wareagleextra.blogspot.com/

Scroll down through the last two baseball games and you'll see it. We could lose several to the draft and some will graduate. Also, at least seven of our signees could decide to go the pro route.

Next year's team will be a different animal entirely.

Bryce Lane from Gulf Coast will probably be drafted also.

How high in the draft would a player need to be taken to make it worth going pro instead of going to college/playing another year of college ball ?

Mostly depends on the kids family situation. So many of these kids, especially minorities don`t come from families with a lot of family resources. Since baseball scholarships are limited and not full schollies, a kid from a less well to do family is more likely to take the money, even if it isn`t great. you don`t see a great number of minorities playing college ball for that reason. Also, states with lottery money for schollies have in the past had an advantage keeping instate kids because they can help them out with stated sponsored lottery money. And some of the kids just want to go pro and not take the risk of injury or whatever in college. Florida and Georgia that have lottery schollie money for instate kids are the only SEC conference teams with less than 10 out of state players on their rosters. For example, Ole Miss has over 20 out of state players.

Well, Auburn doesn't have to worry about its minority baseball players. That team is whiter than a dinner party at Tim James' house.

As are most all teams though not all for sure.
