I'd be willing to bet there was more to it. The pot is probably just the grass that broke the camel's back.

As I understand it, the NFL has a mandatory suspension for a number of games based on the number of offenses.  Rolando McClain, another bama creation, has worked his way up to 10 games because of repeat offenses.
