How many sec wins you guys think we can get?

IDK we can get but we are going to have to get 15 or 16 minimum to make post season given how weak our noncon schedule is.

Tigers roll to 4th-straight win

Bryan Matthews | Senior Editor

AUBURN | Auburn will enter conference play on a hot streak.

Boosted by a seven-run fifth inning, the Tigers beat Jacksonville State 10-1 Wednesday for their fourth-straight win. Auburn has allowed just one earned run in the last 36 innings.

“We got the first two guys on and here we go,” Auburn coach Butch Thompson said. “We got Jay Estes laying down a bunt that pressured the defense to load the bases and the guys really linked up there and scored us seven runs. That was huge.”

Auburn sent 12 batters to the plate in the fifth, scoring the seven runs on six hits, three walks and one JSU error. Damon Haecker started the rally with a single off the left field wall batting right-handed and ended it driving in two runs with a single to right batting left-handed.

Jonah Todd and Josh Anthony drove in a run apiece with back-to-back bases-loaded walks, Daniel Robert hit a sacrifice fly and Conor Davis drove in two with a single.

Haecker finished 2-of-3 with three RBI. Robert was 2-of-4 with two RBI including a solo home run over the right field wall in the fourth.

Christian Camacho (1-1) earned his first career win holding the Gamecocks to a run on four hits with four strikeouts in 5.0 innings.

Auburn, which improved to 14-5, opens SEC play at home this weekend with a three-game series against No. 5 Florida. Friday’s game is at 6 p.m. CT, Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. All three games will be available on SECN+ and WatchESPN.

GAME NOTES

** Will Holland finished 3-of-4 with a triple and a run scored to raise his average to .345. He started the game at second base and then moved to shortstop. The true freshman has also played right field this season.

** Davis is 7-of-18 with three doubles, five RBI and five runs scored in his last six games. The true freshman is batting .323.

** Auburn’s bullpen held the Gamecocks scoreless for the final 4.0 innings. Calvin Coker threw a perfect sixth, Elliott Anderson allowed three hits over the next two innings and Daniel Sprinkle threw a hitless ninth.

** Jeremy Johnson came into the game in the seventh, getting his first career hit in the bottom of the inning and making an over the shoulder catch in left field in the eighth.

I think you are exactly right (15).  Pre-conference, the SEC does not look like the stump grinder it has in previous seasons.

Oh by the way, the Updykes got smoked by Casey Dunn's Samford Bulldogs today.

Well if the NFL Draft doesn't go his way, I guess there's always Baseball . j/k

15 conference wins is hard to do. I want to believe this group can do it but I don't know if we have the bats or bullpen to do so. Tbh I don't see us winning the series this weekend vs Florida but we must avoid getting swept

To get to 15 they don't have to win every series.  If they can win every other series and avoid getting swept that will be 15.  This weekend isn't a "must"...just very important to set a good tone for conference play.

It's also an opportunity. Florida is last in the SEC in batting. If we can get 4-5 runs in 2 of the games we have a real chance to win the series.
