Auburn Looks To Bounce Back on Tuesday Against Lipscomb

Recommended Posts

AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn baseball team will try to snap a two-game

slide as it plays host to Lipscomb on Two Dollar Tuesday night at

Plainsman Park. Auburn will send Fr. RHP Dexter Price (0-0, 0.00 ERA) to

the mound while Lipscomb will counter with Sr. RHP Charlie Williams

(0-0, 18.00 ERA) for the 3pm contest.

Auburn is coming off a disappointing season-opening series loss to

Elon. After winning the season-opener, 5-3, on Justin Hargett’s

walk-off, two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth on

Friday, Auburn had trouble keeping Elon off the board as Elon won

Saturday’s game 11-6 and Sunday’s game 9-8.

The top four hitters in Auburn’s order had an impressive weekend

against Elon as Joseph Sanders (5-for-11, .455), Trent Mummey (5-for-12,

.417) and Hunter Morris (5-for-13) each had five hits and combined with

Brian Fletcher (4-for-10) to drive in 12 of Auburn’s 19 RBI and score

15 of Auburn’s 19 runs. The four also had seven extra-base hits (two

doubles, five home runs).

Price will be seeing his first action on the mound in an Auburn uniform

on Tuesday afternoon. A 43rd-round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers in last

summer’s draft, he is a 6’6” righty from Colorado Springs, Colo.

Following Tuesday’s game, Auburn will play a split four-game series

with No. 5 Florida State, playing Thursday and Friday in Tallahassee

before bringing the series back to Auburn for Saturday’s and

Sunday’s game. Thursday’s 6pm ET game in Tallahassee will air

live on Fox Sports Florida in north and central Florida only.

Appreciate the intro. into today's contest...I see Price struck out 2 already and got through the 1st inning with no runs...Mummey led off with a double and Sanders singled him in...And, ha ha, Jones just hit a 2-run HR!!  3-0, AU, top 1st...
