Yep.. they played piss poor awful today but I did not see them getting better late in the game.. I saw TJ making plays in spite of them.. TJ was sacked once and harassed almost every pass play.. he just made plays.. he is qb 1 and it is not even close.. he earned it.

Agreed. I give him a pass on the deep throws because he hasn’t been working with the 1s …he needs to get his timing down so I am going to be patient with that but he is the starter and he earned it.

100% Finely is QB 1.. I want to see him get his timing down with the first team and the deep ball because that is the only bad thing I saw from him today. He wasn’t perfect but he earned qb1 today.

The call at the end was awful. I am confused about Harsins comments about the 5 options the only way you throw a fade is take a step and launch it up.. there are no other reads.. unless it was presnap and Nix made that decision based on one on one coverage but here in lies the problem.. the play calling. No way you even call that after the way the game has played put. You hand the ball to tank or hunter and if they stop you fine.. At least you put it in the hands of your best player and give the team a shot to score.. that play call had no shot regardless we don’t have the wrs or qb to pull it off.

OL and TEs played really well.

On one play the QB stood in the pocket for 7 or 8 seconds..and people are complaining about the dbs .. no one can cover that long. I also thought that we looked lost in regards to the tight end and not being able to locate him. but play calling was bad on both sides last night. I give props to the Penn State OC dude called a good game against us.

100%. I see improvement all across the offense with the exception of WR. I feel like the play calling didn’t put our guys in a good position. Deep ball has always been a problem so why you calling it and throwing it to a guy who hasn’t proved he can go get it from a QB who hasn’t proved he can throw it. I see improvement from Nix with his short and immediate game and check downs etc..the OL is absolutely 100% better and doing their job. just put these guys in a position to win with the play calling. Hopefully the coaches will learn from this too. The defense was disappointing and no way can we ever allow a qb to sit back there that long no secondary can cover that long.

When the DL can not pressure the qb our secondary will look like this every single time. The qb could have made a sandwich and ate it back there. It is not reasonable to think we can cover guys all night long while the qb just stands there surveying the field. several times I saw the receivers come back to him and work themselves open. And we all saw the tight end exploiting our defense. We have a lot of work to do on both sides of the ball.

This will be interesting to see what Harsin says after looking at the tape.. either Bobo called a fade and we threw it and blew it or nix just decided to throw the fade .. the 5 other options is crazy .. when a fade is called.. you throw the fade there are no other options.. regardless it was a horrible play call and horrible execution.

Agree. I wasn’t expecting that type of performance and it was so nice just to sit back and watch good OL play, good qb play and the receivers doing their thing. I was happy for our receivers most of all.. they ran nice routes and got separation and had a qb who gave them catchable balls..

I do not know if this is his year or if any year will be his year ..I am just excited for the competent coaching we have. Everyone was just better… if nix can continue to progress and the OL can hold up and continue to get better.. he can have a big year.. the key is how nix will react to pressure.

15 is a crazy number.. it was just refreshing to see Nix go through progressions and find the open guy.. hit the check downs.. etc .. when in the past he would force it into coverage to Seth or whoever. The receivers ran nice routes and Nix was able to spread the ball around.. 8 different receivers sounds amazing for us fans who are use to watching him force it into coverage to one guy..

I am with you on MW.. was pleasantly surprised at how well Nix played and even though it was “just Akron” we have seen him against those “just Akron” teams in the past and it was not pretty. It is amazing what competent coaching can do for your QB.

This has to be one of the craziest things I have seen in a while… JG leaves Auburn and Gus because Nix was “given” the starting job because Gus was told Nix would start.(political or racist ..both were implied).Gus said he would definitely have packages for JG only to keep him from going on the field when nix was absolutely stinking it up… JG transfers.. gets a chance at Kentucky only to lose the starting job to a transfer from Penn State.. JG transfers again.. back to Gus who screwed him over the first time… you literally can’t make this stuff up.. but never the less I hope JG gets a shot at something ..

Do people just forget what Cam did on the field? Honestly just go back and watch the season and then honestly say he isn’t #1 on the list no matter how long he played and honestly IMO he will always be #1 .. we do not have anyone on our roster that can unseat him.. ever. Not sure we ever will.

And that is why we will continue down this path.. someone with the balls needs to step up and end this coaching nightmare.. pay the man his money and cut him loose.

Until we get a new coaching staff it will always be rinse and repeat.. we have zero player development... doesn’t matter if it was Gatewood or Willis..or Nix we would still look this way... coaching.. bottom line. Best thing that ever happened to Willis was going somewhere with a real coach that would develop his talent..
