  1. 1. That is absolutely accurate. Once the punter moves outside the tacklebox his protection goes away. Roughing or Running Into Kicker or Holder ARTICLE 16. a. When it is obvious that a scrimmage kick will be made, no opponent shall run into or rough the kicker or the holder of a place kick (A.R. 9-1-16-I, III and VI). 1. Roughing is a live-ball personal foul that endangers the kicker or holder. 2. Running into the kicker or holder is a live-ball foul that occurs when the kicker or holder is displaced from his kicking or holding position but is not roughed (A.R. 9-1-16-II). 3. Incidental contact with a kicker or holder is not a foul. 4. The kicker’s protection under this rule ends (a)when he has had a reasonable time to regain his balance(A.R. 9-1-16-IV); or (b)when he carries the ball outside the tackle box (Rule 2-34) before kicking. Hope that takes care of it. 2. I would love to see the entire play if you can find it. There was a rule put in place a few years ago allowing the receiving team to call for a fair catch on a grounded kick (think single hop kick) but I can't seem to find it in the book anywhere. I'll keep looking for it. That could have been what was called. Remember its also illegal for the kicking team to block before they can legally recover the kick so it could have been that too, except that would be a personal foul penalty. If you can find the play, let me know. I would love to see it.
  2. Even a uater has to be smarter than that. Wait, maybe not. You are seriously going to blame an officiating crew on that? Uat has gotten the benefit of officiating more in the SEC than all other teams combined and extremely often at very critical times during the games throughout the years. The FACT is, your team was undisciplined and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE penalties were there. Not one of them was made up. How many times was their something questionable that was passed on and not flagged that uat did? I'm guessing quite often, and I'm sure there were some close/questionable ones on UT that were passed on as well. Newsflash, its not the officials job to keep the penalties even. Bottom line is you LOST because Tennessee lit up your defense for 567 yards of offense and they made great plays at the end. Oh, and uat still can't find a kicker. Side note: uat time of possession: 37:29. Tennessee: 22:31 567 yards of offense in only 22 1/2 minutes of possession? That's why you lost, not officiating. The "officials screwed us" mantra is not something uat can EVER use. Try harder.
  3. Crowd is getting larger match by match too. They were really into it. We have a chance here to really push this program over the top the next couple of years. It wouldn't surprise me at all if we actually sell out that arena at some point.
  4. That was a fun match to watch. Had me on edge and those girls just didn't quit.
  5. We already have a thread about new coaching candidates.
  6. rule interpretation from a play in our game last night. I've seen it asked in other places why Koy Moore didn't just throw the ball away to avoid the loss yardage (or interception that happened) Well, the answer to that is he couldn't legally throw the ball away in that situation. If he had thrown it out of bounds it would have been a penalty for intentional grounding. Why? Because only the player that controls the snap can legally throw the ball away. The player that controls the snap also has to maintain possession throughout the down. If he gives up the ball and gets it back he can't legally throw the ball away either. Here's the rule reference for it: Rule 7-3-2 exception [Exception: It is not a foul if the passer is or has been outside the tackle box and throws the ball so that it crosses or lands beyond the neutral zone or neutral zone extended (Rule 2-19-3) (A.R. 7-3-2-VIII-X). This applies only to the player who controls the snap or the resulting backward pass and does not relinquish possession to another player before throwing the forward pass.] PENALTY [f-h]—Loss of down at the spot of the foul [S36 and S9].
  7. It's just a contract dispute. It happens all the time with all cable/satellite providers at one point or another. It's just the nature of the beast. I've had Dish Network for 24 years and I love it. This is just an unfortunate bump in the road.
  8. Unfortunate for that young man, but it was definitely targeting since he led with the crown of the helmet.
  9. would be the biggest mistake in the history of Auburn football (and that says a lot given what we have now)
  10. Thread title is very misleading. Many (including me) will expect the entire schedule with a title like this.
  11. The rule references above cover it. It was a spot on call. It's unfortunate in that situation, but the call was right. I don't have the rule book in front of me right now, but was researching this yesterday. If the ball had been tipped, it would have only negated the running into the kicker if the player that tipped the ball is also the one that ran into him. As long as he is still within the tacklebox though, once he begins his motion to kick the ball he is afforded protection until he moves to participate in the play or has a reasonable opportunity to regain his balance.
  12. They've been doing that for years. It's nerve-racking.
  13. ESPN+ has never been included with online access. ESPN+ started as and continues to be a subscription based addition. SEC Network + has always been included in the online streaming package since it started along with all the other ESPN channels
  14. Wow, such negative determinations off ONE game played in AUGUST. We have plenty of outside shooting threats. Again, very defeatest attitude after one game played THOUSANDS of miles away under different rules. I wanted Flanigan on the bench last year constantly, but Flanigan was LIGHT YEARS better in that game than at any time last season. Literally everybody noticed that specifically about that game (except you).
  15. The National Federation has released (a while back) their rule changes for 2022. There are a lot of (what I would consider minor changes) and one significant change. Some of them are: 1. They redefined Chop Block. A chop block (if you didn't know) is a combination block by 2 teammates against a single opponent where one block is low and the other is high. In previous years the knee was the determining spot the low block had to be below to make it a chop block. Now, they have redone this and now the low block only needs to start below the waist instead of the knee. A Chop Block has ALWAYS been an illegal block, and they are hoping this definition change will make it an easier call to make. 2. In the final 2 minutes of either half any foul committed will automatically result in the offended team's option to start the game clock on the snap instead of the ready for play. Prior to this change, the offended team could not gain control of the game clock unless they accepted the penalty. THE BIG ONE: Rule 7-5-2 EXCEPTION 2 now permits a player to purposefully throw an incomplete forward pass without warranting an intentional grounding penalty provided the passer is outside of the free blocking zone (defined in college as the tackle box) and the pass reaches the neutral zone or the estension of the neutral zone beyond the sideline. One significant thing to note here. There's a difference in the rule at the Federation (high school) level and the college level. In the college game the player controlling the snap MUST maintain posession throughout the down to legally throw the ball away. He cannot give the ball to another player and get it back (like a flee flicker or reverse) and then throw it away. This restriction does not exist under Federation rules (based on what I've read so far)
  16. Oh, Good grief. So a catcher that isn't even on campus isn't getting it done? What a completely stupid take. Post less.
  17. Great to see her returning for another year.
  18. Actually he did fail or he wouldnt have been fired. Recruiting is great but you have to win with them and he didnt. I love it. Most overrated baseball program in the country.
  19. Its awesome that Tennessee is done. I hate the entitled attitude they play with and glad they are done. Hopefully A&M,Arkansas, and Ole Miss go down today too.
  20. This is hilarious. Why would they think he was going to be successful? https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/34070539/florida-state-seminoles-fire-coach-mike-martin-jr-three-seasons Florida State Seminoles fire baseball coach Mike Martin Jr. after three seasons Mike Martin Jr., who succeeded his father, the winningest coach in Division I baseball history as Florida State's head coach, was fired on Friday after three seasons at the helm. FSU went 1-2 in an NCAA regional and ended its season with a 34-25 record and ninth-place finish in the ACC, a disappointing season for a team picked as the preseason favorite by the conference's coaches. Overall under Martin, the Seminoles were 77-54. Martin's first season was shortened due to COVID-19, and the Seminoles were eliminated in the regionals in each of the past two seasons, a rarity at FSU. "Making the change with our baseball coach was not an easy decision, but it is our responsibility to put our student-athletes and our teams in the best position to reach their full potential," Florida State athletic director Michael Alford said in a statement. "Ultimately, the decision came down to whether our baseball program was performing up to the admittedly high standards that we have established through our historic success, and I do not believe we were." Martin played for his father at FSU, serving as the starting catcher from 1993-95, including trips to the College World Series in 1994 and 1995. Mike Martin Sr. coached the Seminoles from 1980 to 2019, passing Augie Garrido's wins record in 2018 and retiring with a record of 2,029-736-4. "We deeply appreciate all Mike has done for the program as head coach, as an assistant coach and as a Seminole student-athlete," Alford said. "His passion for the university and the baseball program is unequaled. I am sure I speak for all Seminole fans when I say we wish him and his family nothing but the best."
  21. I think the focus on the runners left on base is way overblown. It's not like we got 16 walks and only scored 5-6 runs. Every team leaves runners on base. We scored 21 runs and have scored 40 runs in 2 games. I'll take that offensive production every game (not realistic) and couldn't care less how many we leave on base. It just doesn't matter in the games we have played so far because both games weren't close. Let's hope we keep lighting up the scoreboard tonight regardless of who we play.
  22. That first inning was fun to watch last night. The losers bracket game at Auburn is on ESPN2 at NOON. Auburn's matchup with Felony State is set for ESPN2 at 6PM.
  23. Hadn't seen this yet. Thanks for posting.
