  1. Was hoping Kentucky would score again before the half. I hate florida
  2. Personally, I believe the "getting extra room for the punt" is an announcer talking point and nothing more. I know I get tired of hearing that parroted constantly with every game and I'm sure why a punter would need extra room when he's punting from the 45 yard line. Perhaps @bigbird could shed some light on this. Personally, I would rather the punts go into the endzone and thus, likely avoid covering a return. Getting the "extra room" statement when you are at mid field just doesn't make any sense. The only time "getting extra room" would matter to me is if we are backed up close to our goal line or even punting from the endzone on 4th and 6 (where the penalty yardage wouldn't give us a first down) and the defense jumps offsides. Take the 5 yards and punt, otherwise, makes no sense.
  3. First thing here is to realize this would have gone to replay. There is a provision in the rule book that allows them to award a score in certain situations. Now this is what I "think" they would have likely done: Had Asante run into Fisher on the field, the flag would be thrown of course and the play allowed to continue. Once the results of the play are in (does he score still or does he get tackled at some point, perhaps even when he hits jimbo), the officials would discuss it. The penalty would be 15 yards for interference and the enforcement spot would be determined by the results of the play. IF he gets tackled and doesn't score, it would be 15 yards from the end of the run. If he did score, it would be 15 yards assessed on the succeeding kick off. If the officials determine he would have scored without the contact, they have the option of awarding a score (then the penalty would be enforced on the succeeding kickoff, (I believe). My OPINION ONLY: IF the contact had occurred they most likely would not have awarded a score on this particular situation. Remember, we have the white hat, the replay official and 3 members on a replay committee all watching this and they all have opinions. They have to reach a consensus here (this is all speculation) and I just don't believe they would come to the final decision of awarding a score.
  4. ALL OF THIS Back and forth needs to stop. TAKE THIS crap to PM and leave it off the boards.
  5. Get back on topic of the thread or don't post. Take the personal crap to PM.
  6. He was absolutely carrying the ball up front against his chest and was completely out of the endzone.
  7. They got the call right. They will always use the spot when the player was hit as their forward progress point. He was hit on the half yard line and driven back into the endzone. That will never be safety.
  8. He's the worse person they have EVER had on college game day. He's completely AWFUL and the segments he's on are just unwatchable. He's not just annoying he's incredible BAD at whatever that is he is trying to do. He doesn't know much of anything either. McAfee is also on WWE smackdown on friday nights when he's not doing game day and he's completely awful there too. He makes smackdown unwatchable.
  9. From our game last night. Most here already know why Cal didn't get the touchdown on the Thorne fumble. But, just in case there are some that still don't clearly understand I thought I would break it down a bit and explain what the white hat could have done better after the review. So, Thorne is scrambling, gets near the sideline and the ball gets fumbled forward. Thorne was clearly still in bounds when he lost possession and the Cal player was in bounds when he gained possession and never stepped out on the way to the endzone. However, the linesman (official) on that sideline, saw thorne step out of bounds and stepped up behind him to mark the out of bounds spot. He was looking directly into Thornes back and had no idea he had lost possession. When they reviewed it they realized he did in fact fumble it and it was a free ball, but because the whistle had blown the play was dead there. They can award the change of possession on the immediate recovery but not the advancement of the ball. When the white hat came back and reported the reversal after replay he never mentions the whistle being blown. He basically ignored that piece of information. DRIVES ME CRAZY WHEN THEY IGNORE THAT and they do it ALL THE TIME. It was, by rule, an inadvertent whistle. When that happens the play is over right then. So we have a fumble, inadvertent whistle (that wasn't acknowledged) and a clear recovery. When the white hat came back after video review, he should have broken it down better than he did. He should have said something like this: After further video review, the runner was not out of bounds, lost possession, then we had a whistle blow, followed by an immediate recovery by the defense. Since the whistle blew, we have an inadvertent whistle and the play is over at that point and the defense will take over 1st and 10 at the spot of recovering the fumble (give the yard line). Rule References: Rule 4: Live Ball Becomes Dead ARTICLE 2. a. A live ball becomes a dead ball as provided in the rules or when an official sounds his whistle (even though inadvertently) or otherwise signals the ball dead (A.R. 4-2-1-II and A.R. 4-2-4-I). If an official sounds his whistle inadvertently or otherwise signals the ball dead during a down (Rules 4-1-3-k, m and n) (A. R. 4-1-2-I-V): When the ball is in player possession, the team in possession may elect to put the ball in play where declared dead or repeat the down. When the ball is loose from a fumble, backward pass or illegal pass, the team in possession may elect to put the ball in play where possession was lost or repeat the down (Exception: Rule 12-3-3-d). This is RULE 12-3-3-d EXCEPTION listed above in article 2.b.2 (Video Review) Dead Ball and Loose Ball ARTICLE 3. Reviewable plays involving potential dead balls and loose balls include: a. Loose ball by a potential passer ruled a fumble. b. Loose ball by a passer ruled incomplete forward pass when there is clear recovery or the ball goes out of bounds in the immediate continuing action after the loose ball. If the replay official does not have indisputable video evidence as to which team recovers or the ball going out of bounds, the ruling of incomplete pass stands. If the replay official rules fumble and the ball is recovered, the ball belongs to the recovering team at the spot of the recovery and any advance is nullified.
  10. It's been ONE game. This talk is a bit extreme and quite frankly ridiculous after ONE game. Pump the brakes and let's see how the season plays out.
  11. It absolutely does, its just more noticeable when it happens just before or right at the start of the season and only then if it involves a sports channel many want for that purpose.
  12. WOW. Writing off someone off the results of his FIRST game there is completely ridiculous. Have you even seen Nebraska football over the last 10 years? That rebuild is going to take time. Allowing a walk off field goal? 100% certain they didn't "allow" it. Let's just not put a defense out there for this FG attempt is the only way they "allow" it to happen. That's ridiculous as well. I would have AND still would take Matt Rhule as a head coach.
  13. Last Saturday I hit my favorite Gun Store and picked this up. Sig Sauer P365XL. 2 12 round magazines and picked up a 15 round extended magazine as well. I frickin' love Sigs.
  14. Maybe in your eyes he is. We all know you don't like Dean, but a 3rd place finish in the toughest softball league in the country is NOT going to put you on the hotseat with anybody that makes decisions in the athletic department. That's just the way it is and the way it should be. We all wanted more success in post season play and we are all disappointed in the key players that have left the program, but you come here making making absolute statements about why a certain player left when you have no idea what the entirety of the situation is. It's you making stuff up to justify getting rid of Dean (which isn't going to happen after a 3rd place finish in the SEC) I do believe we need to go out and find a solid hitting coach. It evident we struggle mightily at the plate when we get to SEC play. Thst has to change to get back to being a WCWS contender.
  15. NO. Only the win from LSU is erased. Everybody that lost to LSU still has that loss. It doesn't change Gus' record either.
  16. I love that we took care of extending his contract. He is really building this program. I wish the financial terms were disclosed.
  17. Well, thanks for that, but I'm pretty sure everybody here already knew that.
  18. I absolutely agree. It was a few years ago, the NCAA issued a statement banning those "props" in the dugout. Clearly that is no longer (or ever was) enforced. I don't mind the quick glance at it, but I don't need (or want) to see it multiple times throughout a game. In fact, I would be ok if they never showed either dugout at all.
  19. My understanding is that Garcia planned to give up softball after this year. I believe she has a job waiting for her somewhere, but perhaps I'm mixing that up with somone else.
  20. You have no way to know why any of these players are leaving. Don't make stuff up to justify your opinion. 43-19 and 3rd in the SEC is a FAR CRY from average. But you do you.
  21. There's literally no justification for it at all, no matter what spin they try to put on it, but Emmert is retired and he's not on the selection committee anyway.
  22. Oklahoma City for the WCWS. Not being petty at all, I NEVER want uat to win anything. I hope they go 2 and out in post season. Hope they lose every game they play in every sport. The entire country knows they don't deserve that #5 seed. It's completely ridiculous and I would love to hear the justification from the committee on doing that. (even though I would still call BS on it and not believe a word of it)
  23. I know the SEC is a great league for sure, but how does uat get seeded FIFTH in the SEC tournament and get the overall #5 seed in the NCAA tournament. We have a better conference record, same number of overall wins and one fewer loss and we didnt' even sniff the top 16. Something is rotten in denmark here. EDIT: Forgot to mention, we took 2 of 3 from them in their own park.
  24. This isn't baseball. Penta could easily pitch all 3 games in the tournament if necessary. Not ideal, but other teams in the past have used one pitcher in post season play. My only issue starting Lowe is for some odd reason, she doesn't get the run support. Our bats just aren't up to par when she pitches for some reason. Remember Lowe is also on a pretty strict pitch count.
  25. This is terrific news. Past time for him to go and take is constant turnovers with him. Athletic as hell player just not very good, IMO.
