Missouri is running misdirection after misdirection and that DC we got from the FCS division doesn't even comprehend.

If you think that a HC doesn't do a lot as far as establishing and coordinating game schemes and gameplans that is fine. But I remember Bowdens assistant coaches talked about the Kaos in coaches meeting the HC wouldn't make any decisions and chime in on disagreements. Furthermore, what type of assistants do you think a coach that hasn't paid his dues to be at a big time program will get.

Talent gap closure won't mean much unless you get a coach that can give them a winning game plan and scheme. We were so outmatched in coaching staff that even if we had bettsr talent we still would have lost that game. You have got to have both a game coach and a coach that can recruit. You cannot separate the 2 components.

It is not just recruiting but being able to coach at a big time programs. If recruiting was the only factor to winning Barfield would have been very successful.

Good list Freeze is too risky of a choice. However, I would adjust your criteria to include NFL coaches. With that my 3 choices are Eric Bienemy KC, Bryan Leftwich TB and Dan quinn of the cowboys. Recruiting all 3 have Sper bowl rings which almost automatically gives us a high profile with recruits. While I know these coaches still have to sell the university to recruits at least they now can get in front of the recruit to give him a pitch. These coaches are also well adapted to formulating good game plans, calling plays and adjusting to game conditions. These coaches are well respected and good assistants will want to work for these guys.

It appeared to me that when PSU blitzed both run and pass our OL was confused as to their assignments. That goes to coaching. Shortening the pass pattern and getting the ball out of the QBs hand more quickly would have helped. Defensive problems not sure but our DC spent probably 90% of his coaching career at the FCS level which probably explains the vast majority of problems.

Eric Bienemy or Mike Zimmer (age might be a problem with Zimmer).

Why does it matter. We will just hire another incompetent from high school ranks or the lesser conferences so al we will get is another Gus or Bryan. Does notcspeK well of those incompetent in the Atheltix dept.

That might be design. The coaches may feel that we don't have the receivers to stretch the field, maybe the don't feel our offensive line is capable of protecting the QB. Then again maybe the coaches are just waiting for a big game such as this to stretch the field.

Win turnover battle. Turn our weaknesses into strength. Our pass coverage has has got to get perform better which would instance weaken their strength.

You are correct but that is the case in just about all instance. Even with Bama hiring of Saben a large base of their fans wanted another canadiate such as Rodriguez. Really the only coaching search that can remember that was relatively calm was when we tried to hire Dooley. However, when Dooley turned us down, the Kaos began.

28-10 PSU PSU will have a field day running fades because our DBs never look for the ball. Our fans will be on the message boards the next day wondering why we can't complete fade routes and PSU kills us with them.

While I agree it is not time to panic, I did note that Auburn on the defensive side of the football was not fundamentally sound such as giving up the middle of the field our opponent, on fade routes our DBs never looked for the ball. The penalties can be reduced by working on execution and keeping ones head in the game but at this point there is no reason for not being fundamentally sound.

Agree Findley should be the starter. He showed that bad plays and slow starts doesn't effect him like Ashford let's bad plays effect him, his reads and decision making seem to be improving even on his interception he made the correct read but the pass should have been more to the sideline than to the center of the field giving his receiver the only one that had a chance to catch the ball and RA appears more of an athlete playing QB than a dual threat QB. Defensively oh where to start with that mess. Leaving the center of the field wide open. DBs being isolated on side of the field with a WR. These coaches should know the DB should line up with his outside shoulder to the inside shoulder of the WR thus denying the WR the inside. The line straight up to WR and the inside is wide open. The DBs would continue to play back when blitzes were called, coaches didn't dequise the blitzes, on the fades DBs never looked for the balls. While I never like the DC hire because he would never be able to recognize the schemes, sets, and shifts of big time college football and implement a defensive scheme, the above things I cited above is fundermental and these coaches can't even handle the fundermentals correctly.

I don't know what is going on in the coach mind, 1 game against a lesser opponent doesn't mean that he can be a full time starter. I remember last year when Findley came in and engineered the winning drive against Georgia State and many on this board were saying the same thing about Findley should be 1. I don't know which 1 should be starting but it should be measured more with the quality of play against better competition.

Worst case scenario for me is that he loses we fire him and have both gus and harsin on the unemployed payroll. What kind of coach do you think we can afford after that.

It can work if OL opens holes, QB can pass effectively enough to keep the defense out of the box and we scheme in misdirection and trap plays to slow down the defensive pursuit.
