I read a prediction article that thinks we lose RA and HG, but are hoping to sign Cam Ward. Who knows, we have been on quite a bad streak of getting capable QBs or ones that fit a certain system. I know one thing, if we keep all of the WRs we currently have committed and nobody capable can throw them the ball, they will definitely walk. RA should transfer to a smaller school. Not sure he would play any more next year at a new position than he did this year.

You’re correct. I stated my case without thinking it through enough. Holloway is not looking like a 5 star so far though and that’s hurting us. We haven’t had a true sniper at shooting the 3 since Bryce Brown and that does hurt the type of O BP likes to run, not to mention Jared Harper, the last very good guard we had run the floor. Stars are nothing in any sport in my opinion.

I truly love what BP has done for AU, but I also believe we are stuck in a warp, where he had that one GREAT season and ever since we have been middle of the road. True, this wasn’t a Conference game, but this team really hasn’t beaten a good team this year. I do feel confident we may get into the tourney, but I just don’t see an above average team here.

I wouldn’t take WM back. He jumps ship too often. I would say RG and TW from this list.

I agree. With the current flock of receivers coming in, if our OL improves 15%, PT is a decent enough downfield and over the middle passer. Just don’t think we had near enough weapons at WR for any QB and of course the OL struggles didn’t help the last couple of years.

The KSU QB has entered also. Not sure what O KSU runs, but he’s had a good career. Haven’t heard much about Ward, but I know WSU had a decent season.

This exactly. I have very little faith in this coaching staff, regardless of how many blue chip recruits we sign.

Thank you. HF is a smoke blower. Yes, recruit all you want, but if nobody is capable of coaching them to win, it doesn’t matter. Heard too many excuses from him in year 1 already. So extremely unimpressed. Moral victories no longer exist. Never wanted him as HC and even if he manages 9 wins next year, that’s a coach of his caliber’s ceiling. Can’t blame your players, for pathetic coaching every loss, which he’s done on at least three occasions this year. AU football has become a complete travesty and there’s no end in sight.

I’ve said it all along, while I will always pull for AU, HF will not be nearly as successful as his twin GM. Recruiting is one thing, but who has he ever truly turned into a great QB or offensive player for that. He will potentially reach 8 or 9 wins, but that will be the ceiling for his teams at this level. Oh well. At least we didn’t screw up the head coach BB hire.

I’m going Bama- 29 AU- 16 I think the score is just a mirage, as I don’t trust this O staff currently to come up with a game plan to do better than that. I can easily see three field goals since we do have a very good kicker.

Guess we will see. The big problem with building recruits from HS now is the portal, which means they can bolt easier than when College Football was more fun and less like the NFL. If you’re being sarcastic, good for you.

That’s my point. He has side stepped most of the blame for poor play this year and is quick to accept the accolades for the nicer wins. If he gets his wish and hauls in a top tier class and fails, that rests on him. He’s the developer.

Yes. Like I have said, recruit all the four and five star kids you want, but they have to be coached well and developed. HF has put his own tail on the line by stressing how he prefers signing and developing high school players. He will get his chance with what could be a strong class if we don’t lose anybody else. If he fails then, ALL blame is on him.

Not “not jumping out of the freezer”, but upperclassmen had about a year and a half with Harsin, not the majority of their career unless he recruited them. He got tank to stay, but obviously turned a lot of players off. I don’t think we were better off with Harsin, but until I see a much better product on the field, I’m also not convinced we’re better off with Freeze either. Just my opinion.

Good take. It’s on the coaches to rein any overconfidence by players in. You know it’s happened to UGA over the last three seasons. That’s part of a coaches job. I honestly think we have barely any chance of beating Bama, which means we will need to show up for the bowl game to avoid a 3rd losing season in a row.

I misspoke on that. I meant he can grab plenty of 5 stars out of HS, but if they aren’t coached up and put in successful situations, they will use the portal and be gone. Apologies for my incorrect text.

There in lies a large problem. You can of course want to get the recruits you believe in, but as HC, you don’t ignore the current group, some of which will stick around and some won’t. With the way the portal works now, he can grab a number of 5 star players, but if the staff doesn’t coach them well and put them in situations where they have a chance at success, they won’t stick around for years 2 or 3. He’s shown he can recruit well, but I have seen no evidence of him being a good enough coach that can get AU out of the basement. Can only hope next year is much better with “his recruits”.

I agree. Hard for me to place blame on the last HC. All I’ve heard HF do all is year is to an extent show very little trust or belief in the players that are here now. Regardless, he’s now had his tail kicked two years in a row by this coach. Recruits are obviously needed, but so is Good Coaching.

And that is apparently the AU way. Hire an inferior coach, give him 2 or 3 years to underperform and buy him out for a large amount! When will this cycle end? AU football is so much less enjoyable than AU Basketball, baseball, softball, gymnastics and hell, even swimming. Now a bottom tier SEC team.

Agreed and based on his coaching and leadership of this team thus far, there is a ton to be desired. He couldn’t even operate with a 2 year starting capable QB from the Big 10. Have very little faith in the direction he’s trying to go currently. 6/6 bowl game is no major accomplishment.
