Who cares, if he were the best man for the job? Willis left Auburn to work for the best coach out there today. Hard to argue with a man trying to move up in his career. It was a long time ago, I don’t recall if he burned bridges or anything, and don’t know how his recruiting was against Auburn. But if it’s just a case if having left Auburn for the Gumps 14 years ago, I’d say it’s time to get over it.

Considering who his Father was, I would have to think it's less likely he'll leave SWAC. I could see him being a lifer, but who knows.

I'm not pushing for Rhule, but I believe this is short-sided. He coached four years at Temple and managed to win 10 games twice, get them ranked in both 10-win seasons, and make it to a bowl game. AT TEMPLE. Inherited a mess at Baylor and went from 1 win in year 1 to 7 wins and a bowl in year 2 to 11 wins and the Sugar Bowl in year 3. I know nothing about his personal life or any issues, but based on his college experience, I'd say he's worth consideration.

Not being familiar with the inner workings of an athletic department, it seems like this is the type of position an AD would want input in, or am I wrong?

No one “hates” Harsin. At least I doubt. but hardly anyone here thinks he’s a good enough coach to be at Auburn.

Even if we win, Harsin needs to go. Play calling is horrible. Even if I wasn’t bourbonfied, I would say the same. This is painful.

If he has a bad year and gets fired, there's a buyout and the press will skewer us for only giving him two years and bungling the entire process, which apparently we did. If he wins and leaves on his own accord, it saves us from a buyout and the press will skewer us for being such a toxic place to work that we ran off a winning coach. If he has a mediocre-to-decent year and he stays, it's just a matter of time before the inevitable firing happens, and the press will skewer us because that's what they do. In the meantime, I'm well-stocked on bourbon for what will be an interesting season, and thankfully basketball season is just around the corner.

If any of you have daughters who play softball it's well worth having them go to the Kinesiology building and have them go through strength/agility/hitting testing with them. They are always looking for girls for testing. They do throwing as well, but we didn't have time for that. They'll send them a Rapsodo report with the exit velocities and all that stuff, plus a write up that includes recommended stretches and things of that nature. We did it earlier this year, my daughter enjoyed it. Worth the drive back and forth from Atlanta.
