McCalebb was recruited by CTT wasn't he?

So was Lutz but he stuck with us during the coaching change. Nice list!   :tdau:

Difference is that OMac actually signed with xCTT, failed to qualify, went to prep school, and then resigned with Chizik.

I know this, but the new staff still had to re recruit him and convince to come to Auburn, which he did.

Isn't that the same thing that happened with Fairley

Almost. Fairley signed with xCTT, went to JUCO, and redshirted one of his two years there. I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but prep school is kind of like an extenuation of high school, where the player gets a chance to play for a year while finishing up his eligibility requirements and not use up any eligibility. Players have to be a lot closer to getting in than those who go to JUCO typically are.

CTT recruited quality athletes, but this staff has up'ed the ante.

Im not sure why it every matters what coach recruited who because in situations like ours this year, it obviously takes great players from both the previous and current staff to have this kind of success.  If Im not mistaken, xCTT recruited Jonathan Evans, Dee Ford, and Eltoro.  Jawara White signed with this staff but I believe he was heavily recruited and basically an AU lock in part due to xCTT.

Yeah, this feels like more of a shot at Tuberville than anything else, which I don't particularly like. I'm glad Chizik is here, but Tubs laid the foundation quite nicely.

It is a matter of CTT's legacy at Auburn and how he is perceived.  Coach Tubs should be always be appreciated for his efforts in bringing us out of a dark time in Auburn history.  Players were routinely getting in trouble toward the end of Bowden's tenure, and CTT cleaned that up and brought in good players who were also good kids.  I think he lost his heart for Auburn when the powers-that-be went behind his back to try to oust him.  Of course, they had valid reasons for trying to oust him: In 2003, Auburn started out ranked in the top 10 and the odds-on favorite to win the SEC.  We laid 2 huge eggs against USC and GT (We made a freshman Reggie Ball look like a world-beater).  Heck, we didn't score a touchdown until the Vanderbilt game.  It was obvious the Nallsminger was an epic disaster.  But the way the situation was handled was wrong, and everyone associated with Auburn suffered for it.

I see now that it was time for Coach Tuberville to move on, but I appreciate the foundation that he laid upon which Chizik has been able to build to take us to our current level of success.

Don't forget the town of Auburn and the school of auburn University being big recruiters too that played a big part in these young men decided to spend their college years playing for the Tigers. Chizik and Tubbs did a lot of good things to being people to this school, but the school and town themselves do a lot to being them in too. We have a great school with a great fanbase that would entice people to come too.

I wish CTT could also have his name put on the new indoor facility that is being built as we speak. He sacrificed his last little bit of political capital to get that upgrade for Auburn.

It needs to be noted that near the end of 2002 and in pre-season 2003 Tub REPEATEDLY told people ... not this year (2003),  but NEXT year (2004) would be the year we challenged for the NC.

IF the media had listened to him, perhaps we would not have been ranked so high in '03, and perhaps we would have had the shot we deserved in '04.

I appreciate what CTT did for Auburn but i do not root for him anymore. He quit on auburn, and almost brought the program down. He pretty much stopped recruiting. If we had kept him one or two years longer, we would be in really bad shape. Our talent level dropped significantly after 2006 and if it wasnt for Chizik coming in and recruiting like he does we would be fighting to get in a bowl game every year for the next decade

I hope everybody realizes that CTT and his staff did recruit most of the starters on this team. I suspect he felt like AU quit on him. He had a very good run while he was here and many of the initial recruits for the current staff were already committed when CTT left. And don't say he quit. He was run out by the administration. You don't normally get the big buy out if you quit.
