They know where they'll end up if they go back to their old ways, so that should deter them or any of their associates from any further similar activity.

Only, Obama wants to CLOSE Gitmo, so that does send a bit of a mixed message, now doesn't it ?

Oh well, we've shown compassion and mercy. That should solve the problem of any further misunderstandings between militant jihadists and the West.
