That's concerning.  Rivera went 3 for 4 yesterday, so it's not a performance-based substitution.

Dean seems to be playing reserves whenever he can early in the year regardless of how well others are playing.  He probably had an idea in mind already. Good at building depth before SEC play.  Jenna came through earlier for us recently. Maybe she will again.

Martin starting off badly.  OSU ties it up on 3 singles.  Going to top 2.

I'm all for building depth, but why would he replace Rivera instead of Podany, who's hitting .212 and dropping?

3-1 Auburn.  We get two on Veach walk, McCracckin hit,  Dowell hit, PodanySF, Olszewski reaches on an error.  Draper walked to load the bases with one out, then Shea struck out, and Perry grounded out to p.

martin retired the Beavers on 7 pitches.  Pitching change for OSU - Nelson.  TanSnow due up.

McCrackin has been hotter than a two-dollar pistol. Wait, that doesn't sound right. Maybe better in the "crush" thread? :)

Some wild base running.....Dean the opposite of Clint for certain.    Stolen bases, fake steals and stretching base hits.  Gonna be an exciting season at this rate if we can handle outs.

AU speed seems to be giving Oregon State some problems.....and maybe it's a matter of pushing them into mistakes.

4-1 Auburn.  Tannon walked, Fornis pinch-ran.  Veach singled up the middle, Fornis thrown out at third in a rundown.  McCrackin safe on throwing error,Veach to third.  Podany popped out.  McCrackin thrown out attempting to steal 2d, but Veach scored on the play.  Dowell to be at bat in top 4.

Martin is done for the day...she's been getting knocked around a bit this season.

Wondering if she will be the #2 by the time the SEC season gets under way.  Harris doing well thus far....and comes in to pitch now with to no outs and one runner on base.

Harris retires the side.  Dowell,Olszweski,Draper up in top 4.  I haven't thought of OSU as a good team, but they can evidently hit.  Their top 3 are 5 for 6.

6-4 Auburn.  With one out, Jenna doubled to LC.  Draper, after fouling off 6 pitches, singled her in.  Shea struck out.  Perry reached on a throwing error by ss, Draper scored.  Tannon grounded out.  Thank goodness for 4 errors by OSU, or we'd be trailing.

Well an error by AU making it easy for OSU to get back in the game....runner is on 2nd now...pop up to catcher....mental error by AU's 3B and the runner advances to 3rd.  Coach a bit upset over the breakdowns.

Carlson comes in to pitch for Harris with tying runner on 3rd and one out.   Dean looking to nail this one down I guess....Carlson has been really good this year.

Bloop hit to right brings in the runner...was mistaken....runner at 3rd was not the tie.....so she scores and now AU has a one run lead.

I'm not sure why everyone says Dean is more aggressive running bases compared to Myers.  If you look at their history at the schools they have coached and how much emphasis and time is spent in practice on it, Myers teaches a more aggressive style.  Yes, Dean does attempt more steals at AU than Myers did, but that's it.  Myers attempted a lot more SB's at AZ St, but not sure why he changed his pace at AU.  Myers spent a lot of time every practice on situational base running, where Dean spends very little on it.  He definitely benefits from a roster that was taught well by Myers.  Hopefully, he will find a balance of when to run and when not to as SEC looms.

8-5 Auburn going to bot 5.  After Veach homered, Nelson walked McCrackin and Podany; but Dowell and Olszewski struck out.  Draper reached on an error by 2B (5), and McCrackin scored.  Shea flied out to right.

Side retired in bot 5 around a single, OSU's 8th hit of the day.  LiveStat said Nunes flied out to cf down the lf line.  ??  So Draper came over from cf to catch one on the lf line?  I don't doubt it.  Perry due for Auburn.
