Giving Limbaugh the Medal of Freedom?

This is , or should be, a non-issue. Hundreds of such awards have been passed out since JFK initiated the thing in 1963. Limbaugh is hardly the first or only controversial figure to be given this award. Wiki has a list....

I think most of us on here are in agreement that him receiving it is basically a non-issue.  It's dumb, but it's nothing earth shattering.  However, most of us also recognize that doing it at the SOTU was very inappropriate.

President Trump was making a point. No better time or place than at the SOTU with lots of publicity and a big audience. It's not like the Dems consider the event sacred. Look no farther than Pelosi's disrespectful action.

There's no point being made by giving Rush that medal other than to score points with the base.  That's it.

And what Pelosi did was equally egregious and was done for the same reason.  Some of us do have the capability to call them both out for being self-serving pricks during an event that is supposed to be more about national unity and vision.

It's been a long, long time since I've seen any example of unity at any such event. The Pubbies won't clap for a Dem and vice versa. It goes downhill from there. Maybe it started back when Newt the Poot and his  gang showed up and civility has been in decline ever since.

"Supposed to be" being the operative term.
