It is hard to imagine that they couldn't find another location to build a factory.

The new EV factory will be on purchased land.   The NC Department of Transportation is using eminent domain to acquire land along exits from US 1 to widen secondary roads near the intersections.   They expect more traffic due to people working at the factory.  As usual bad reporting and headlines in some earlier stories.
