Playboy's Pre-Season Rankings

For the benefit of some of you married guys that aren't allowed to look at it, Playboy's college football preview issue is out and has AU at #8. Their top 12 are:

1. USC

2. Texas

3. LSU

4. Tennessee

5. Virginia Tech

6. Iowa

7. Oklahoma

8. Auburn

9. Georgia

10. Michigan

11. Miami

12. Florida

No other SEC teams (e.g., Bama) made their Top 25, but still, almost half (5) of the top dozen are from the SEC. Big 12 places three in the dozen (Texas, Iowa, Oklahoma), while ACC gets Va Tech & Miami there. So who's the toughest conference again?

Also:

They have Ga Tech at #23.

For the first year I can remember in a long time, there are no Auburn players on their All-American squad.

I wonder if Playboy offers a reward for winning the Heisman Trophy or any other prestigious award in college football?

One week access to the Playboy mansion?

A chance to date the playmates that Hugh Hefner's viagra a** hasn't already bagged yet?

College football and beautiful women. It must be fall season.

Oops--thanks for correcting me. I guess I was putting Iowa in the Big 12 because they're west of the Mississippi.

But hey, only two per conference makes our five look even better!

OK, tell me again that the SEC is not the toughest conference in the nation.

1. USC

2. Texas

3. LSU

4. Tennessee

5. Virginia Tech

6. Iowa

7. Oklahoma

8. Auburn

9. Georgia

10. Michigan

11. Miami

12. Florida

This is probably one of the most accurate polls I have seen, at least in my opinion. I still cannot buy Texas as a top 10 team this year or any other since Mac Brownovich showed up.

I'm surprised they didn't place Marcus in the all-americans.

Yeah, I questioned his absence too. For what it's worth, their offensive line choices were: Andrew Whitworth (LSU), Jonathon Scott (Texas), Eric Winston (Miami), D'Brickashaw Ferguson (Virginia), with Greg Eslinger (Minnesota) at center.

[bama's Roman Harper was picked at linebacker, by the way.]

I agree with the choice of Whitworth from LSU, he is a great player. From an outsiders viewpoint, I was glad to see him come back for his final season.
