Auburn reaches out to forward in the transfer portal

Andrew Stefaniak
~2 minutes

Auburn is looking to add depth to its frontcourt.

The transfer portal is open for both basketball and football, so Bruce Pearl and Hugh Freeze are working hard to add talented to their respective rosters.

The Auburn basketball team is looking to replace a lot of minutes at the guard position and what star forward Jaylin Williams brought to the table.

Auburn's all-time winningest player, Williams, is officially out of eligibility, and now Coach Pearl will have to find someone to bring to that table what he did.

It will be nearly impossible to replicate Williams, but if you can find a taller player who can shoot, you could get somewhere close.

That is why Coach Pearl has reached out to former TCU Horned Frog JaKobe Coles, who averaged ten points per game a season ago. Coles also averaged 3.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.4 blocks, and 0.6 steals for TCU while shooting 42.2% from three.

Coles only shot 64 three-point attempts during the season, but he took them at smart times and was very efficient in shooting basketball, just like Williams was at Auburn.

He has drawn interest from Kentucky and Mississippi State on top of Auburn, so it sounds like the former Horned Frog could end up in the SEC.

The 6'8 215 pound forward is a solid stretch four who could bring to the table exactly what Auburn is looking for.

Coles likely wouldn't start for the Tigers, but he would be a solid depth addition who could give the Tigers some veteran minutes off of the bench.

How does Stefniak know if he wouldn't start. I say it would be competition.

The portal says Jacobe is going to Grand Canyon?

Also, how good would this guy fit in?

Seems like the type of player BP would pick up to stay on the heels of CJ.
