I was really hoping that TJ would make the Falcons roster and it looks like he did. War Eagle!

Falcons Cut 22

For months, the Falcons have indicated they weren't happy with Chad Lavalais, last year's starting nose tackle.

Saturday, they confirmed their displeasure, cutting the third-year player from LSU, the most notable of the 22 players waived as the team got down to the NFL regular-season limit of 53.

Lavalais started 14 games last season, recording 33 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks. However, he tailed off as the season progressed, hurting the already vulnerable run defense. Lavalais, a fifth-round draft pick, was demoted early in training camp in favor of second-year nose tackle Darrell Shropshire.

Lavalais was passed shortly thereafter by undrafted Auburn rookie Tommy "T.J." Jackson, who made the active roster.

"T.J. showed up from the first day he got here in minicamp and made an impression," coach Jim Mora said. "We liked his size, quickness and intensity."

:cheer:
