The Beslan school hostage crisis (also referred to as the Beslan school siege or Beslan Massacre) began when armed Muslim Chechen terrorists took more than 1200 school children and adults hostage on September 1, 2004, at School Number One (SNO) in the Russian town of Beslan in North Ossetia.

On the third day of the standoff, shooting broke out between the hostage-takers and Russian security forces. According to official data, 344 civilians were killed, 186 of them children,[2] and hundreds more wounded.

Daniel Pearl (October 10, 1963 – February 1, 2002) was a journalist who garnered international concern when he was kidnapped (and eventually murdered) in Karachi, Pakistan. Pearl was investigating the case of Richard Reid, links between Al Qaeda and Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and $100,000 wired to September 11 chief operative Mohammed Atta's account in the US by Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, following instructions by Pakistani General Mahmoud Ahmad — the ISI director general at the time.

On October 30, 2005, Theresia Morangke (15), Alfita Poliwo (17) and Yarni Sambue (17) were beheaded in an apparently religiously motivated attack in the Poso region of the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia.

The three were walking to their private Christian school in Central Sulawesi province with their friend Noviana Malewa, 15, when they were attacked by a group of six masked men armed with machetes. Malewa, the youngest, survived the attack with serious wounds to her neck. The attackers left one of the girls' heads outside a Christian church, and are believed by many to have been Islamist extremists connected to Laskar Jihad. The surviving girl was able to describe the attackers to the police.

Five suspects, including a former military police officer, were arrested and later released for lack of evidence, although three were subsequently re-arrested

Fabrizio Quattrocchi (c. 1968 – April 14, 2004) was an Italian security guard taken hostage by Islamist militants in Iraq, notable for his defiance of captors shortly before being killed.

He was taken hostage together with Umberto Cupertino, Maurizio Agliana and Salvatore Stefio. They worked in Iraq as security contractors.

Quattrocchi's kidnappers forced him to dig his own grave and kneel beside it wearing a hood as they prepared to film his death, but he defied them by pulling off the hood and shouting "Adesso (or ora) vi faccio vedere come muore un italiano." -- "Now I will show you how an Italian dies." He was then shot in the back of the neck.

Well, I could resist. Religion is used to manipulate man in hating the believers of other religions. This affects the deepest part of man's being, his belief system. That's why the elitist get away with murder. The Roman Catholic Church had the original transcripts and changed them to manipulate the masses. They admitted mistakes in translation not too long ago, concerning a woman's place in the heirarchy. This doesn't change my beliefs in Christ as my savior, it just reinforces the insanity I see in all radical forms of dogma to include Christian absolutism.
